There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2010 RT brake pin recall info

I just got some more info on this and your dealer will be contacting you.

Unoffically I don't see this as being a big problem as this is the same pin that's been on my RS for 50,000+ miles and I can't imagine how this pin would ever come unclipped from the rod unless it was never clipped to start with. If I was concerned about it I would just put a ziptie on the clip and call it good but what they did is replace the old pins with one that takes a cotter pin as an extra precaution.

Thanks Lamont!! I remember dealing with this clip/pin when I was removing my pegs and installing the ISCI floorboards. As I recall, had a hard time getting that clipped removed without having to use a flathead screwdriver and some elbow grease, so I don't know how vibrations can let this clip fall off. Regardless, I think I can inprovise this until my dealer lets me know since I don't think they will have the pin ready for me being so close to Spyderfest, and I don't want to bother Cowtown for something so simple.

The wifes 2011 RTS SE5 pin came with it zip tied. I saw that when I installed the Cat shields. For me I would rather just zip tie it. Unless the retainer part bent or widened, it might not secure correctly. I would just bend it back and zip tie it if that ever happens. I'd rather do that instead of trying to find another cotter pin which never seems to be the right size anyway. Then I have to woory about getting my meat hooks in there to bend it without FUBAR'ing those little cotter pins. Just my .02

This might pose a problem for you later on if the clip were to break off. Then the zip tie may not help. With the proposed fix, you can replace the cotter pin with one that should be easy to find at most hardware or auto parts stores.

Just to be clear, this is the same pin but not used in the same way as an RS/GS. The RT uses a connecting rod between the brake pedal and a pivot arm.

I'll have go out and look at mine. Couldn't one just install a cotter pin?

You would have to drill a tiny hole in the pin and I'm not sure if the new pin is longer or not. Your dealer will change them out for free so I would just have them do it and be done with it. :doorag:

After I sent the ? I realized that they replace the pin with one that has a hole and then install cotter pin. Just checked mine has no hole or zip tie.

I have a 2010 Spyder RT - S SE5

I have just checked mine its ok - At present I have zip tied the Clip on to make it more secure until the dealer replaces it with the new one
which uses a cotter pin

My question is - The clip is used is at both ends of the connecting rod - I have zip tied both of them - Does the recall involve replacing both the
clips or just one of them and if not can the other end accept the new pin with the cotter pin hole drilled out to make is as secure as the other end
in which case I could ask the dealer to order me one - Is that the part number shown on your photos

Thanks

Both pins will be replaced with the new ones and cotter pins.

Received my letter while at Spyderfest so had Cowtown do the fix while installing lights and backrest.

BACK ORDERED??

I talked to my dealer in Hot Springs over the weekend and he says that some of the parts are on back order!! "THE COTTER PINS!!" :banghead: I say go to hard ware and get a hand full he says no, they have to be BRP part numbers. 7th or 8th be for he will have parts. I think there full of it. they all ways have an excuses to not work on a spyder. he also say it will be at least 4-6 weeks be for they can do an wheel aliment and if they cant find away to do the job with out the tools then they will have to get approval from the owner to order them from BRP or whom ever, then could add 2-3 weeks on top of 4-6 weeks...

mine is hard to steer from the day I brought it home. now I know why... its toed out at least 1/2 in.

The "tools" are purchased at the home improvement store.
