2009 Red SM5 Just Ordered

BRP screwing up

Any reason you ordered a 2009 over a 2008?
my dealer is quoting me about 4 weeks delivery if I order now (2008)
I plan on placing my money down this week. :D:2excited:

I ordered a RED SM5 in May due in by the end of August. I would still be waiting if I had not caught the RED SE-5 and had enough extra cash to get it. Some reports say that there are no more '08s, only 2009s. Any way you look at it my original order did not show up on time and I would have missed most, if not all of the fall riding season waiting for it.

I am very happy to get the electric shift, much better for my dialysis arm, but that does not make the BRP actions right. Also, if any number of aftermarket groups can get a decent windscreen out why are those of us that think we need a barn door have to ride all winter waiting for the big BRP unit nest spring? My 10% off will probably bring it down to the range of some of the aftermarket ones and the bike will remain OME at least a little bit longer. For my purpose it looks like it will be the best choice but I need it now!

It was actually my plan all along. I have never bought a premier edition of any vehicle as I have always waited to make sure the bugs are shaken out. In terms of the Spyder, though, it looks like there are only minor issues to be concerned with. I want a red SM5, and it looks like they won't be available for a little while yet, so I didn't want to order one of this year's models this close to winter. I was concerned that by the time I got the red, there would not be much riding time left for the season. Therefore, better to stick to the plan and have a brand new 2009 in my garage at the beginnilng of the riding season. :D

Cheers,

Bruce

Congrats Bruce, you sure have a lot of patience.;) I sold my Connie last spring, been riding Spydy since May 1st.:2thumbs:

Thank you spyryder. Do you miss the Connie? I have had mine since I bought it new in 1999. No regrets yet, but I am attached to it. Not sure how I will feel when the garage is empty and the Spyder has not yet arrived.

:congrats: If you ride towards the National Capital this summer let me know - I`ll show you where you can take a picture under the the giant spider !

Monique, I do get up that way from time to time (usually work-related), so if I am able to make the trip on my :spyder: I will let you know and take you up on that!

I DO miss the Connie:(...can't afford to keep and insure both though. Spydy helps me forget.;)

welcome glad you are going to finally be riding a :spyder: and a new 2009 to boot :2thumbs: :congrats:

Thanks spyderrider44! It's strange, I have bought a series of motorcycles over the years, but I am more excited about this purchase than any of the others in the past, maybe because the Spyder is so different and exotic compared to all of the two-wheelers.

Change in Plans

Hi SpyderLovers. I wanted y'all to know that I just formally placed my order for a Roadster Red 2009 SM5 with the Givi bag option and some other goodies. :2excited: I am purchasing from Uxbridge Motorsports & Marine Ltd. in Uxbridge, Ontario. Delivery expected in early spring. They are about 2 1/2 hours away, but good folks, and very attentive to customer needs.

So if you see me in Gatlinburg next week on my Kawasaki Concours, take a good look, as this will be the last hurrah for that faithful beast. I have a buyer lined up after I return, and will anxiously await the delivery of my Spyder. Christmas will be a little late for me this year, I guess. :2thumbs:

Cheers,

Bruce

While on my way to Gatlinburg, my dealer called and offered me a brand new red 2008 SM5 he had just taken delivery of. Well, I just couldn't resist, so on Saturday, October 11/08 I will be picking up my new roadster. Guess I won't be waiting 'til spring after all. Rather than Christmas being late for me, it will be early! Accessories added or being added as I type: seat skin with red stitching, 12V accessory plug, Givi bags and top box, trunk liner kit, throttle lock, fog lights, riser block, caliper trim kit, side panel trim kit.
Woo Hoo! One more week to go.
Good timing too. I just sold my Kawasaki Concours yesterday.

Cheers,

Bruce

Thats great. Sounds like you'll have a pretty tricked out Spyder right from the get go and you should still have a number of good riding days this year. :doorag:

Thanks Brian. Yes, I hope to put some miles (kilometres) on before snow flies!

Brian and I were talking and we see a Dairy Queen run in your near future. Duane who rode with us to Gatlinburg, owns a Dairy Queen in Sandusky MI. That is in the thumb and only about 1/2 hour from the border I think. We are bound to have a couple of good weekends left for riding and I think you need to "run for the border" with Gail and meet us for lunch and DQ. Since it is the northern border Dairy Queen is more appropriate than Taco Bell. What do you think Bruce? Heck, this could be an open lunch invitation to any spyder rider that wants to make the trip. Of course we should probably tell Duane about this. LOL

How about Blue Sky for ice cream in Romulus. It's also close to the border (Detroit) and easy access to I-94 and I-275. My treat for all Spyder ryders that show up!

I would be up for either option gang. Thank you! However, October is a write-off for me. :dontknow: The week after I pick my Spyder up, Gail and I will be flying to St. John's, Newfoundland for the national summit conference of the Motorcycle Ride for DAD. The weekend after that is the last weekend of October, and I am teaching the motorcycle course at Fanshawe College. We may have to defer this plan until spring, unless we have an unusually mild November.

Cheers,

Bruce
