• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2008 gs sm5

Mirror extensions

Only if you don't like looking at your elbows, I think I have attractive elbows;-)

On more a serious note my must have list would be:
  • Bajarons Swaybar - a must have
  • More grippy tire on the back - my personal favourite is the Toyo Proxie T1R but you'll have lots of suggestions

The other things I've done to my Spyder and very pleased I did
  • Iridium Spark Plugs and better leads from Bajaron - saves maintenance
  • JT's Air Filter - sounds good and makes maintenance a lot easier
  • Spyder Pops missing belt guard
  • SmoothSpyder backrest
  • Rear fender off a Kawasaki ZX14 - no more cracked fender struts, easier maintenance, looks good
  • Grip Puppies
  • Iso-pegs
  • Dryrider navigator tank bag
  • Better sump plugs - again makes maintenance easier

Depends...

Welcome to the club...don't know how long you have had your new to ryde..good choice by the way , but the best thing is to ryde for a while and see what you think you need or find missing. Then follow the basics...1. safety, 2. comfort, 3. handling and performance and finally bells and whistles /bling. I will admit that the mirror extenders and very helpful and TricLed has some mirror covers that go over your exsisting mirrors that add 30% to the rear view that are great...

:welcome: and :congrats: on your ryde.

Aftermarket or even OEM may be an issue 10 years later. Some suggestions from ours.

Seat, higher windshield, handlebar weights, mirror extenders, handlebar risers (4"), we also added Corbin fairing, trunk, GIVI (OEM) saddlebags, and BRP tank bags. A Corbin rear fender on the 08 as well as custom wheels

The silver is the 08/GS sm5 and the red is 09/RS se5

What seat with back rest can i get for it?.

The Corbin seat I had on the 08 was ordered with the standard backrest. The 09 had a comfort seat from BRP--no backrest there.

I used three suppliers for mine back in 08/09. Corbin, BRP Accessory Catalog, and dealer direct for the 4" handlebar risers. He does not do the risers any more.

Website might still have the 08/09 accessory catalogs. Availability might be an issue.

In those days, there were few aftermarket suppliers. Most had developed a wait and see about the fledgling brand. With the advent of the 2010 RTS, some of the accessories became moot.

I have said a few times, that BRP stole my ideas for the RT. I bought a Premier Edition in 2010 anyway. :roflblack::roflblack:
