There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2 Ultimate Seat Questions

After meeting a few folks at the 2015 Hill Country Spyder Ride, my wife and I got to sit on an RT with an Ultimate Tall Boy to see if she would have enough room as a passenger with that model seat. She signed off on it so now it's ordering time. Many thanks to Cleve who let us sit on his bike and also to Daryl who told us that Cleve's RT was going to be there. I have been working on this for about a year now trying to make a decision.

Cleve said that the Ultimate seat was heavy and he had a dowel that he had made to act as a seat strut to hold his seat open.

Question #1 - Is it a waste of time to transfer the stock seat strut to the new Ultimate seat?

Question # 2 - Should a person use the rain cover when washing the bike?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

The Ultimate seat with backrest on my STL Stays up no problem. Your RT seat is probably heavier.

I don't cover mine to wash it. I don't spray it directly but some water does get on it. I just wipe it dry with a towel .

The strut will hold the RT seat up even with a backrest and it doesn't take much time to move it to the new seat.

My tall boy stays up on its own on my RT.

Ultimate told me to cover the seat whenever there is water around. They are water resistant but water can wick into the seat at the seams.

I have the Ultimate mid rider seat and love it. I had to change the strut for one that supports 40 pounds to hold the seat up as the stock strut would not hold it up. Takes all of 5 minutes to do. As for washing I don't cover the seat and have had no problems just don't spray directly onto the seat.

The seat holder will hold it up.
But if you want to open it easier get the 40 lb. the part number is sg359011.
It will cost about $25 plus tax.
get make sure the back set bolts are tight.

Have no trouble with my Ultimate seat staying up.....but had it installed by Ultimate seats in Ormond Beach, Fl. Also never put the rain cover on to wash the bike.....just careful not to spray directly on the seat.
You made a good choice.....you will be happy you bought the seat!

I too installed the 40# strut. Worked much better.

I do not spray water on the bike to wash. There is no need to get the seat and electronics on the dash wet.

My RT's stock strut won't hold my Ultimate seat up. I'm planning on buying a stronger one at Amazon. A little errant spray won't soak the foam. It takes prolonged heavy exposure.

James, you and Samewok are talking about the 40# strut and Same gave me a part number. Is this a BRP product and if not, where do you buy this strut?

I will need to look at part number on strut of Louise RT. But I got it at napa. Its a replacement gas strut same length but 40# force. It will be awhile before we get the 2013 back from Mancuso so if someone else has the part number sooner....

Thanks for the info James. I will try and locate this at an auto parts store with Samewok's part number.

Will be in touch farther down the road with you about alignment too.
