• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

see photos from the Spyder I saw getting service at Speed Sports. It's not street legal yet. Three guys in the one photo; Kregg Williams owner of Speed Sports on the left, the designer builder inthe middle, and "Just Bob" Rasters (the farkler) on the right. this is the first body he built and he is developing the frame and hardware around as much Spyder hardware as he can use.

Technically we are street legal. Went through the final steps with the DMV last week. Just got the parts from Speed Sports today so we're looking at the first real drive tomorrow. If this rain ever lets up!

It was nice meeting you and "Just Bob" as well.

Wicked cool!!! :2thumbs:

I only see 1 problem...it's not yellow! :D (we all know yellow Spyders are the fastest!) ;)

Uh, I hate to say this but its not for me guys. Maybe if I see it in person. Looks like the offspring of a boat and a sportscar. Can it handle the twisties?

I'm Sorry but that thing is BUTT ugly!!!nojoke

Looks a lot like a Grinnall Scorpion, a kit out of Great Britain. The only way they can get them into the country is to ship them without a motor. The new owner then needs to assemble the kit which is not much. Then one has to go find a donor BMW motorcycle for the running gear. Truly a job for gear heads and not me. Then you have to get it on California/US roads. Then you have to maintain it. All this would set you back about $26k.

Now this looks more promising. Hard to form an opinion on the style without a really cool paint job on it but it will be a head turner in any case. Good luck with that and let us know when it is ready for viewing.

Pelican Racing, what are the pros & cons vs. the T-Rex?

While we don't offer as much power as the T-Rex, our vehicle is a lot lighter and is a much better value. Final pricing is TBD, but T-Rex's start at about $50k and go up from there.

The Grinnall is a good piece of kit, but I think our design is better. Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder so I appreciate you withholding final judgment until the vehicle is finished.

Our build process should be a lot easier than the Grinnall since we're doing all the engineering up front. Ideally this could be put together by a garage mechanic with a limited tool kit. If you do your own oil changes and brake jobs then you can build one too.

Well if we all thought the same thing we wouldn't be thinking right? :joke:

It's not something I want.... but it's pretty cool and amazing what they did to create this new beast. Can't wait to see it painted.

:congrats:

I really like the looks of the finished product sketches. Looks promising. Sorry I missed out on seeing this in person. Maybe soon.

This wouldn't replace my Spyder, but would be a nice toy to have around. :doorag:
