• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2 Nascar Questions

1) What's with all the empty seats? At most tracks other than Daytona (in February) and Bristol.

2) When removing the tires during a pit stop the lug nuts fall on the ground. Do those nuts ever get caught under the rear wheels during the burnout, becoming projectiles launched at the adjacent car, crew & officials?

Just wondering. Enjoyed Charlotte last night.

Tks

basically, Nascar expanded the seating to try to take advantage of their popularity in the late 90's
However with the ticket process being so high, when the economy started going bad in the 2000's that was one of the first things to go in most peopLes budget.

Yes there have been minor injuries from lug nuts spun up on acceleration. You can see the sparks from them on night races. The sockets have a spring inside them that ejects the nut. The air guns are powered by compressed nitrogen for higher speed and torque.

I guess the empty seats are a product of our lackluster economy. I gave up my tickets at Michigan last year so I could spend more money on Spyder trips.

The pit crews sweep the pit box after each stop. If they didn't it would be like walking on marbles.

If you buy any product from the sponsors on the car/firesuit, you are filling that empty seat. And for that I thank you. No track within walking distance, so I'm a couch-tator who's leaning left..
:roflblack:

Now we know why they were helmet's:yikes:

Attendance is usually down for the Fall race at Charlotte, but it seemed way down this year - based on number of campers parked around. The May race is more popular, and because the area turns it into a weeks worth of festivities - All Star race, Speed Street in Uptown Charlotte, then the 600, We try to be out of town whenever possible.

The first or second year after moving here, they had the Fall race, and a home Panthers game the same weekend... Talk about planning! We spent the weekend on South Carolina.
