• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2 Bolts Issues

Question, I ordered the bracket to install my cell phone on my sterring wheel. See pic below. As you can see in my second pic, I need to remove the two bottom screws with an hex tool. I attempted with a regular hex but the screw is too hard to take it out with the small L shaped hex tool. Any other ideaa how to remove the bottom two screws. Do I need a power tool to remove this screws? Also when I remove the two bottom screws will nothing come apart, correct?

I was able to remove those using a L Allen wrench but had to use the long side as a handle.
They were even hard with just that! I almost had to put a piece of pipe on the wrench to break them loose but I had enough strength to do it.

They have yellow locktite on them which is what is making it hard to break loose. Even once you get them broken loose, they will come out hard all the way due to the yellow locktite.

If you still cannot then I suggest getting a Allen bit driver socket. These are made to hold Allen bits so you can use a standard socket wrench.

Here is my video part 2 where I remove these and my comments. Skip to 6 minutes this is where I removed those.

Thank you, I guess I will need to do a trip to Home Depot for tools. Great video you posted.

use a H7 bit in a ratchet wrench, when you take it off there will be a washer on the bolt, don't let it slip into the steering cavity. Nothing else will come loose as long as you only remove those two bolts, put the new bolts on by hand as far as possible, do not use a power drill as you can strip the threads.

Could you try putting a little heat on them with a soldering pencil? :dontknow:

Due to the size of these screws, where they go, the bottom bracket as seen in my video, etc...
NO.... I do not recommend heat in this area. A soldering pencil would NO WAY provide enough heat to be effective here.

Even trying to use heat of any kind, it will just dissipate into the metal and to get it hot enough to break the locktite loose, you will cook things too much.

Sorry not a good idea in my opinion having been there done that.

Be careful not to strip the heads out. That will be a pain! Speaking from experience. One came out easy, the other, not easy at all!

good luck...
