• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

14,000 mile Service

Got up Saturday at 7am, Headed out at 8am, Got to Mountain Motorsports about 6 Min. til 9am, went in at 9 and told the guy behind the counter, I was here for the 14000 mile service, he took my name and I said I'll be in the waiting room, he said your going to wait 10 hours, I have a look on my face, I said what!! 10 hours, Yep and then he showed me all the stuff they do to the bike at this service, so I called my wife, she was gone , my best friend on a fishing trip , so I rode back home and Trailored it back out there. needless to say Traffic was on the rise, after all that I got back home at 4:30Pm, Man what a day, the only Positive note was that I had bought the 3Year Maintenance plan, cause just that one service is around 1,500.00 dollars , so it pays somewhat to buy the maintenance plan, and for someone who is like me and doesn't ask how long it will take, I Hope this helps for what NOT to do !!!! LOL

All I can say...

I'm glad you have a maintenance plan. Though the dealers do tend to take advantage of the 14,000 mile service and a lot of it you can do yourself. It is a rough day and you will have to do it all again to get her back....Just make sure it's ready.....:lecturef_smilie:

14,000 MILE SERVICE

Dear Sir : I hope your clothes are really, really, filthy dirty because you are being taken to the CLEANERS .......I'm sorry your STEALER has decided to become RICH from your visit, why you have to send His kids to college I can't understand..........................Seriously .....If they told you, You NEED to have the VALVES CHECKED ..... most savvy people here don't even consider this until at least 36,000 miles and even then an actual adjustment is rarely done...........I'm not putting you down or trying to make you feel bad, but you need to learn more about your Spyder before it makes you BROKE..........Mike :bbq:

I guess you missed the part about it not costing him anything for the service.
Not putting you down or trying to make you feel bad, but you really need to learn to read before . . . . . . .
Hope you get the point.

I like the maintenance tech at Mountain Motorsports, They have did all the work on my Spyder since ive had it , and no trouble with any thing, but the 3 year plan is about to run out and i'll start doing a lot of the stuff myself, Thanks for the comment. I have learned alot from this site, and changed the tire myself, a year ago, to a Michilin, going to do the brakes when i get back from FLA. Never have changed my oil but i know how to do it from all the info on this site, Thanks to all .

Sorry we did not get to you quicker. The 14,000 mile valve check service is a waste of time and money. I have actually had two of them, one at 14K and another at 28K. Neither instance required any adjustments and was a waste of both my time and money, $800 plus in both instances. I note you have a 2013 RT, so it is a "recommended" service for that model.

I note you have a maintenance contract, so the service is "paid" for--the question for me, is the dealer actually performing a service or are they not even putting a wrench to your RT? It does happen.

They do inspect things at the dealer, once I took it and they found that my rear turn signals were not working , I had not checked that, they fixed it on the spot , then they found that I had my rear tire not adjusted right, I really trust this dealer , they are high, but its hard to find someone you trust to do a good job, I have been very satisfied with their service and would recommend them to anyone, they showed me some pics of what they were going to do at this service, so all I can do is trust them. And yes im not paying anything, its all included in the Maintenance Contract, And I don't think they would let it sit in the way for three days, if they were not going to turn a wrench on it, there is a lot of people that go to this dealer, they are in Conyers, its almost a 50 mile trip one way, but as I said I trust them.

If you are happy with your dealer, not much I can add. Glad to hear you are happy with their service department. Not everyone on board here can say that about their dealers.:bowdown:
