• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

seller claims spyder is under rated and there will be no problem.
your thoughts? thank you in advance

what gauge is the headlight wiring in spyder?
vendor says 16 gauge minimum for 100w bulb.

Many times the heat from 100 watt bulb will travel back up the terminals of the bulb and actually melt the plastic and or wires in the connector as 100 watt bulbs makes a ton of heat. (just think easy bake oven)

I know this first hand, as I ran 100 watt H7s in Patti's car and melted the right side connector into a pile of goo. Finally the light on that side stopped working as the heat actually made the terminal in the connector heat stress and stop making contact. The left side started to show the same signs of heat when I went in there too. All this happened within 5 days of trying them in her brand new car. :yikes:

There are some companies making silicone bulb connectors for when using high watt bulbs like this and if you are going to try these I would suggest getting some of those too.They sell them just for this purpose and are about 15 bucks a side to buy.

Why not just go with HID's which are proven to work well?
 
thank you for your posts and fly, i am trying to do away with hid period.
even few of the proven ones are throwing error code and after seeing what bad hid for headlight could do to spyder last time around, i want no hid to possibly interfere with spyder. my spyder acts funky here and there to begin with so i don't want any more variables.
now that i am going to take fogs off to make room for cold air intake, i thought i brighten up a bit by going with 100w hella bulbs.

by the way, is 2 layers of DEI heat barrier as rigid as lets say cardboard?

2 Layers of DEI heat shield is very rigid indeed. Far more than cardboard of equal thickness.

On the HID's-- that's just strange. I've been running HID's in all 4 front lights for well over a year with zero problems.

I think your problem is elsewhere.....
 
Heat increase will be dramatic... a friend of mine changed his dual 55/55 h4's to dual 80/100's and melted both headlight sockets and the reflector area in his GL1500.

I will tell you this before the fixture melted he could blind you at a 100 yards on a bright sunny day in Virginia.

You may want to re-think the increased watts.

If you do a stress test on the fixtures be sure and let us all know the results. Ken krb1945

thank you. i was going to get some high temp plastic for airbox around race air than wrap it with heat barrier but i guess i will just use them floor mat instead.
is there any place i can get some small air scoop?
i was going make them out of fiberglass but it's just going to be too much work and i really don't have the skill so i am going to get rid of fogs and use the vent hole but it seems bit too far away...
