• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 10 minute oil removal with new panel for the RT

I just did an oil change with the new setup and it took 10 minutes to pull the panel and drain all the oil and remove both filters. This is WAY faster than the old way. Thumbs up to BRP for this mod.

All you do now is loosen the two bolts in front of the foot peg (do not remove), then remove the air wing, remove the two push pins that hold the panel on and slide the whole thing out.

I asked my dealer about the panels and they said the only way I could get a set was to bring it in for an oil change. I. Checked another dealer and was told the same thing. Sad part is, I had the tupperware totally torn down and could have dropped the parts in on re-assembly. That would have been way too easy. Now I'm stuck paying the full price and letting the dealer tear off the parts all over again for nothing. Now that's customer service. :banghead:

Glad to hear it reduces the time so much though. That's a huge plus.:thumbup:

new panel...

Lamont, when you get time, post pics of the new panel. Also explain exactly what changes were made that makes it easier to remove.
Thanks,

My dealer handed me my update panel with no cost to me. I had to give them my letter from BRP. I do my own oil change on the RTS. Bob

I was lucky enough to get one also and installed it. Fairly easy overall and look forward to my next oil change.

I have not received my letter from BRP for the new panel. Are they still rolling them out or is mine MIA?

I have the new panel on my RT and see no way that this helps anything unless you put the hole in the support as suggested in a previous post. The filter screw that is behind the support is almost totally inaccessible. Tightening that same bolt to the proper torque is impossible. Other than that, it is a great improvement.

It helps because you don't have to take off any of the painted panels.
I did drill the support and that is approved by BRP now. :doorag:

Thanks Lamont! :2thumbs:
This has certainly reduced the "pucker factor" of an oil change...
Give me a little more time, and I might just dare to give it a try! ;)

You need to check and make sure your dealer turned in your purchase info to BRP. I've heard that some are not in the BRP system...Go figure:banghead:

I am still buying oil from the dealer. Is there better oil out there I should be using? Less or more expensive?

I dont understand why but if you live in California you won't be getting one.

We did not get a letter because per CA. law BRP could not include us in the new maintenance schedule. But, that does not mean you can not get the new panel. Check with your dealer and see how he is handling it. Probably pay to play since we don't have a letter to give him for reimbursement.

I thought you just went in thru the bottom lamont. they you didnt need to remove any of the painted panels.

jack up the Spyder and access from the bottom (after you remove the splash panel)

Does anyone with SpyderPops Cat Shields know if they will still fit with the new panels?

Yes, I installed new panel myself and have the cat shields on there..No problem....Plus with the cat shields I feel comfortable when I'm riding and there are stray cats on the road:D
