• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

1 Month Newby Check In

Cables that operate bags, are notorious for stretching immediately after getting ryde.
Pretty simple adjustment.

They are a bug/hopper magnet alright.

Glad you are enjoying it otherwise. I love mine, and while glad I waited for the 1330,
still wonder why I didn't try this sooner. Stay safe.

I think your 1st service price is right about on the money.

PrarieSpyder, do you know where or what that adjustment is? I have the same issue on my right saddlebag.

Thanks,

Pam

Hi Pam,
It's underneath that rear bodywork panel that stretches from the back of the top trunk, down to the saddlebags.
Pop each of them open, and there's eight bolts visible...
Once you get the panel loose; you can see the threaded adjusters for the cables...

Thanks Bob

Ironically, I just got off the phone with the tech at Ride Now about the latch problem with my glove compartment lid. The part came in, and I'm bringing the :spyder2: in Friday morning to get the work done. I mentioned the issue with the right saddlebag, and he said they could adjust it while I'm there. :dg2:

Pam

I don't know what they did, so I'm glad BobD could help.

"Driving range sucks...I can't get 2 full days of commuting to work without having to fill up.
Front end of this thing is a serious bug magnet...if I don't wash it at least twice a week then you probably couldn't tell it is white...
Side bag is sticking and won't open when you pull the lever...unless you press on the compartment while pulling the lever and patting your head at same time..." From the OP.

Thanks for your update. 3,500 miles in a month makes you a serious rider.:yes: :firstplace::firstplace:

Bugs: Hydrogen peroxide will dissolve the pesky bugs pretty quickly.

Bags: There appears to be a known issue with bags not opening easy. The cable gets stretched. I am not a mechanic and tearing half the back end off was not my cup of tea. My dealer fixed mine under warranty. They now work perfectly.

Driving range: yours will vary depending on throttle position. I consistently get around 40 on the 1330 and 31 or so on the 998.

The gasoline retailers love me in the summer. My monthly bill is usually $250 to $350 just to keep the :spyder2:'s fed.

3500 miles of serious fun.
I will give the Hydrogen Peroxide a try for tough to get buggers. Black plastic areas leaving water spots are annoying too but lots of
cloths to dry with seems to solve that one.

I will probably try spraying lube in and if that doesn't work then the warranty is a great friend...

Lol...was going to say that my MPG gets better due to post-1st maintenance but I held off on that as with my confidence in riding the
throttle seems to stick open more so that is pretty much a wash....

Easy solution to bug removal

Dryer sheets: wet spyder , wet dryer sheet. Wipe over bugs. They literally slide off. Rinse.
Also I got Spyderpops Bug Grilles ( cannot remember correct name). Besides looking good they keep bugs and trash out of those front scoops

Keep Out The Trash--KOTT Grills. Yes also on the dryer sheets

I've heard about using dryer sheets, I'll have to give that a try.

Those Spyderpops Kott Grilles are on my shopping list.

Pam

They are not only functional, but they look nice.

Yeah, the Kott Grilles do look nice in the photos.

My next investment for the :spyder2: is a larger and taller windshield, which is going to set me back a few hundred dollars. Once I get past that ding in my budget, I can look at getting the Kott Grilles and a few other farkles that I have my eye on.

Why does money (or lack thereof) have to stand in the way of my farkling?

Once again.....

Cheapest quote in Washington/ Oregon is 360.00 in AZ. However,in the west, they must do more.
