• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. 1/4 time of RT-S?

enigmatic biker

New member
I'm trying to settle a bet with a riding acquaintance (notice I didn't say friend) on the ET's of a 2014 RT-S and a model from another brand, which will go nameless (but you do meet the nicest people riding them). I have tried Google searches and can find specs but no 1/4 mile times. Anyone know of a link with a recent test?

It's no big deal; the wager is just a cold frosty beverage. I really don't want to line my Spyder up against his to prove my point.

I don't believe you will find official acceleration time specs published for any Spyder model - at least no "official" ones released by BRP.

Think about it... This is the company that places that big pull-out safety instruction card above the handlebars of every unit, and THEN makes the rider push a button, supposedly testifying that he/she has read the card, BEFORE the engine will start. And every other page in their owner's manual contains safety instructions in bold type. Even the shop manual is full of safety warnings. Clearly their philosophy is to limit their accident liability exposure to the greatest extent possible and to present a clear image of concern for safety. Are they going to publish quarter mile or zero-fifty time specs???

For what it's worth, a friend of

Mine did the 1/4 mile on his 13' RTS Se and was in the mid 14 sec range for his best time's. Saw low 15 sec alot. I have not ran my 14 but based on non scientific testings I would say the times on a 14 will be very close.

1/4 MILE TIMES??

Don't know exact E.T.'s but if you're talkin about racing a newer Goldwing,FORGET ABOUT IT!! The G.W. will spank a :spyder2: with ease. I have now owned them both and the WINGS H.P. to weight ratio is approx. 8lbs per H.P.where as the :spyder2: is approx. 10 lbs per H.P.,also the Wing has a much higher top end. A word of caution,if someone wants to race your spyder with an older valkry,Don't do that either. Only 1520cc's but hotter cams, bigger valves, six carbs. The :spyder2: is great for what it was designed to do. Hope you both enjoy your "cold frosties". RIDE FAR AND RIDE SAFE!!

I understand all of that, and as a rider for many years I appreciate it as well. Again, I was just asking if anyone knew of a posted ET in a road test or cycling magazine, or anywhere else where the same rational "safety first" (see limited liability) attitude might have been trumped by the more primeval urge to "let her buck."

BTW...I'm not dense enough to think the RT-S could match up with a GL1800.;)

Spyder Speed

If you do some online searching; you might just find something. :D
Good Luck; please let us know what you find!

As a brand new Spyder owner I have found that it is really, really, really slow...to fall over on you.
