• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

08 GS SM5 Shifting Problem
16K Miles
Out of Warranty

I got on my spyder by stepping on the shifter instead of the foot rest. By the time I realized what I was doing the damaged was done. The shifter sink about a inch or two down. The engine was off and the clutch was not engaged at the time

Now shifting is tough. It goes from N, 2, 3, 4 and 5 but I can't shift into 1 or R. Unless I keep shifting up and down and I will find 1st or R by luck. It does not want to shift down. Sometimes shifting from higher gear to lower gear is tough too.

Sometimes the gear selector shows "E"

Any ideals?

Bummer..!!

you need to take the shift lever off the siftshaft to start. Straighten the shift lever back. Hook it back on and shift back and forth or up and down to free the shaft finding "N". Re-position the shift lever and tighten it down. Remove the key and walk away for a spell. This allows the computers to reset. Return and turn on the ignition for a minute then start her up and try the gears. Hope this gets you going and only the splines got a bit twisted...

Check your reverse cable adjustment and Gearbox Position Sensor. That's usual problem with the SM5.
