• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

‘15 F3-S - how to turn off ECO?

Saw in another recent thread the graph on the difference in throttle actuation between std and ECO modes. Our new-to-us F3-S has ECO mode on. On my ride today, tried several different ways to turn it off. Unsuccessfully. So ... what’s the skinny on how to disable it? And - I assume it comes back on each time you start up? Thx in advance.

On my Spyder, if you ride two-up, sportsmode cannot be selected, I just push the modebutton, and it changes immediately, but mine is a 2019 F3s.
Only thing I can think off, under the passengerseat, there is a safetyswitch, maybe that is detecting to fast, it tells the nanny, there is someone ryding with you, but it baffles me, that you cannot change from standard to eco.
Is no issue on mine, it even holds it's last selection, when you re-start the bike.

The only reference to the engaging of ECO in my 2015 F3 Roadster Operator’s Guide is on page 20. The whole sum total of its description is: “Hold this button down for more than 2 seconds to activate or deactivate ECO mode. ECO MODE indicator lamp will be on.” Tried holding it down for a few seconds, and just giving a quick press a few times - but while driving down the road. Made no difference. Believe I also tried with key on / engine off, as well, with no luck. That’s why I was asking. Instructions are pretty scarce for this system ...

Hmmm.. On my 2019 F3S, I simply tap the mode button after start up to change the riding modes.

ECO Mode change

As I understand the situation, the ECO Mode is ON and BC wants to turn it to OFF.

Troop states the procedure: start the engine then before doing anything else press the Mode button for 2-3 seconds and the ECO Mode should switch states: OFF-to-ON and ON-to-OFF.

BC -- does the Mode button operate properly for all other functions?

Will try that when I get around the Spyder again later. Assume ECO (mode) button works - am able to start the bike !!!!!

Well - it works like a charm, when you know how to do it. Worked fine after startup in the garage. Not sure why it didn’t work while driving. Either I didn’t hold it down long enough, or it can’t be changed while moving. Regardless, I know how to turn it off now! Thx for the replies.

Glad you were successful ..... PS you didn't hold the mode button down long enough ..... Mike

Well, tell us the Fix. Someone else may have this problem.
Thanks and have a nice day. ......

Rode it this evening. Worked both in the garage after initial startup and at 50mph on the highway. Apparently I wasn’t holding the switch long enough. All’s well - lesson learned. (Am sure there’ll be MANY more learned!)

"I assume" same as "I hope" -- not a solution

BC -- your "I assume" optimism (probably youthful) is a wonderful thing to observe. But it can divert you from a solution just like "I hope." The left-hand assembly is a complex mix of current control and CANbus message switches which have been known to deteriorate with unexpected symptoms. Just because operating the ECO Mode button allows you to enter the Start sequence you are not assured the remaining functions are available ... which is why I asked about them.

One afternoon I visited some elderly (like me) friends. Turns out they had spent the morning trying to get a pickup truck running but couldn't find the problem. The hood was open but I didn't look inside because I could see it had a carburetor and besides they were much more knowledgeable about the engine than me. They told me the symptoms. I said it was two problems. A quick trip to NAPA and they had the truck running.
