• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    The Log House Project

OUCH! No laughing, coughing, sneezing for you for a while. Avoid any thread that even hints at humor. So sorry to hear this, Scotty. Only time helps the ribs, and it takes a while.

    Sad news about Littlebadwolf

I always looked forward to a ride to the Artesian Wells, because Larry might just be there, enjoying himself. He was there quite often, and also joined rides to Hell, MI, and Joe's Gizzard City, as I recall. No pretenses with that guy. He was friendly and accepting of everyone. He will be...

    Holiday Season Karma

Hey Ticketbait, We sure did have fun at Spyderfest! Thanks for posting that picture with the Michigan state flag! That BMW you saw is a new limited edition of the K1600GTL introduced for 2014. It's got keyless ignition, a new Garmin GPS with a slightly bigger screen than the 660, armrests...

    Holiday Season Karma

Actually, the K1600 has the lowest seat height of any BMW - 29.5" With its very, very low COG it's surprisingly easy to manage at a stop or slow speeds. But it is not a lightweight, coming in at just under 800# ready to go.

    Holiday Season Karma

Yeah, Scotty, one of us must be building a new home, making life difficult for the contractors, carpenters, electricians, HVAC personnel, not to mention you and Nancy. Now, which one of us is busy? :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: At least I'm able to pretty much keep to my half-time...

    Holiday Season Karma

OK, I think I've got them both uploaded. The first shot is the R1200GSW, which is the new water cooled version of the bike. The shot was taken at Michigan's Au Sable River outside of Grayling. The second shot is the K1600GTL on the dealer's floor the day I picked it up. Delivery was delayed...

    Holiday Season Karma

Great! First PM came from lwrydr, who goes by Dave in the real world. Hope to ship the backrest tomorrow. Bob, I've got two rides now, a BMW K1600GTL and a BMW R1200GSW. Both are wonderful rides, for different purposes. The K1600, with 160hp is scary fast and incredibly smoooooth! The GSW...

    Holiday Season Karma

Haven't posted here since I sold the Spyder near the end of 2012. I think the forum should be for the enjoyment of those who own or for prospective owners and I didn't want to be one of those guys whose posting depresses or worries others who are more than happy with their purchase. In any...

Would you buy your RT all over again?

We have a 2010 RT-S. I just cannot imagine doing our trip out to Glacier and Yellowstone NP's in any other machine. Having the trailer meant no compromises on clothes, camera equipment and even some fly fishing stuff. While we had a problem in West Glacier, we found a dealer only 35 miles...

    Bluetooth Dongle for 2013

The Sena units pair with each other, or a number of other units, AND with the dongle. Hope that helps.

    Bluetooth Dongle for 2013

We have Sena headsets on our helmets and use the dongle to connect our iPod and GPS. It all works very well: we can both listen to the same music, we can both hear the GPS and we can talk on the intercom. If one of us wants to hear different music then a second iPod/radio/MP3 player can be...

    Winter Storage

:agree:, too! But I've managed to ride at least once every month since 2004 ... and that's in Michigan. We don't get the snow in SE Michigan that Scotty gets, but we get the cold. Nonetheless, it's refreshing, invigorating and a neat escape to dress warmly and get out on the bike for 10-20...

    Update charges

Thanks, Scotty. I was beginning to feel left out because I had never been notified of an update. My Spyder is at the dealer now getting the rear suspension fixed up so hopefully they'll also put it on BUDS and check for needed updates.

    remote start?

With fuel injection the Spyder is pretty much ready to go as soon as it starts, even in cold weather. I don't see much need for remote start, but I see many possibilities for problems if it's in the garage with the door down, or if it's forgotten and left idling for a prolonged period, etc.

    Had an accident today...

Weren't you tempted to lean on the horn just before the impact? :roflblack::roflblack:
