• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'm even more of a Spyder fan than I was before

Three years ago I traded in my Honda Goldwing for a new Spyder. I had dropped the Goldwing twice in two weeks and both times needed help to get it upright, so I decided that as I was approaching 80 years old I probably should give up on riding a 900 plus pound motorcycle and go to 3 wheels. I...

Your Weather News @ APRIL 2025 Edition

I bought the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 after going from a Goldwing to an RT because I thought I would totally miss the 2 wheel riding experience, i.e., leaning through curves rather than steering through them. And while I enjoy the little Hunter, I have come to realize that I don't really miss...

What can I do to get a straight shot at the Rear Tire valve Stem?

"The Accu-Gage reads to 60 lb. which is more than adequate and the right angle chuck and bleed valve button make it a breeze, pun intended, to get the rear General Altimax exactly where I want it." I bought the gauge and the valve extension (but not the Harley one) and used it to make the job...

Your Weather News @ APRIL 2025 Edition

This is not yet the Spring that I have been waiting for. Thankfully we had a "false" Spring around Marth 10th, and I was out riding several times, but then it turned cold again. No snow, but cold rain, strong winds, and cold temps means that the Spyder stays in the garage. I wish I coud have...

Weird Spyder Behavior this afternoon - sudden power loss & 'bucking'! Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my 2021 RT. Turns out it was a defective speed sensor. An easy fix once the dealer could get the right replacement part, but that took over 3 months. Just to be safe, I also had a new battery installed as the OEM battery was 3 years old. No problems since then.

    First ride of the season

Yesterday was surprisingly warm, temps in the high 50's, so I was able to get out for my first ride of the season. I missed most of the fall riding months because my RT was sitting at the dealer awaiting a part, and by the time the bike was fixed it was mid December. So yesterday was the first...

What can I do to get a straight shot at the Rear Tire valve Stem?

Trying to figure out the best way to get to the rear tire valve stem, I bought a floor jack that is low enough to slide under the Spyder, but despite some advice as to where to place the jack, the rear end is low enough to the ground that I could not see where to put even when lying flat on the...

Can anyone recommend a TPMS system other than FOBO?

I bought a cheaper TPMS for my second bike, and I am not so sure of its accuracy. The FOBO for my RT is spot on when I check with a good tire gauge. I'm sorry I wasted my money on the cheaper system for the other bike, I should have stayed with FOBO even if a bit more costly. I recommend you get...

Thinking of getting a floor jack - how hard is it to find the right place to lift?

"The parking brake only works on the rear tire. I lift up the back of my Spyder with a Harbor Freight floor jack. Sorry Amigo Jack, I got my reply hooked to your reply instead of Vito's." Which jack model did you buy? I want to make sure if I get one it will be able to slide under the RT.

    I am now Spyderless

One older gentleman in what had been my old riding group decided that when the Goldwing became too much for him he went for a Mazda Miata. I decided to go to the Spyder RT and hope at 81 to still have a few years left. But I also have a Mini Cooper convertible, and when the RT becomes too much I...

How many States require a Motorcycle Endorsement for Spyders?

Licensing in general has sure changed over the years. When I was first married, and assigned by the Army to El Paso, TX, my 19 year old wife did not have a license or know how to drive. We owned a little VW Beetle with (of course) a manual transmission. We went to the Highway Patrol office where...

Any suggestions on running Gravel and dirt roads on a Spyder?

I have found that when an nice asphalt road turns to fresh gravel, or even dirt, I just slow down considerably and watch ahead for potholes or dips. Its only happened a few times for me in 3 years of riding my RT and I have not had a problem of any kind other than the bike getting very dusty...

What do you carry for Travel Snacks?

I carry a small gas grill in the Frunk, along with a small cooler in which I keep a one pound ribeye steak, silverware and a plate. I stop on the road and cook the steak and drink some fine wine right from the bottle that I keep in the side case. If my butler accompanies me on his Spyder, I let...

How many States require a Motorcycle Endorsement for Spyders?

As someone pointed out in an earlier post, in IL if your take the MSF Basic Rider's Course and pass (which is easy) you get your motorcycle endorsement without any other testing, and it covers you for all types of motorcycles including 3 wheelers. But you can go to the driver's license office...

Thinking of getting a floor jack - how hard is it to find the right place to lift?

I don't do any work on my Spyder, and adding air to the front tires is not a problem. So I am only interested in lifting the rear to make it easier to get to the rear tire valve. I saw a $99 floor jack at Harbor Freight that appears to be 3.5 inches when flat, which should fit under the Spyder...

Thinking of getting a floor jack - how hard is it to find the right place to lift?

I'm still looking for an easy solution to adding air to the rear tire on my RT. I'm thinking of getting an inexpensive floor jack from Harbor Freight, thinking if I an raise the bike up a bit, enough to easily turn the rear wheel, I should be able to take care of adding air more easily. My...

Does anyone leave the parking brake off during winter storage? And some rodent protection discussion...

Never occurred to me to NOT put the brake on. I leave the battery in the Spyder and hook it up to the Battery Tender when not riding, including the winter months. I add Stabil, run the engine for 10 minutes, have it on the Battery Tender, stuff a rag in the exhaust. Always works fine come...

Anyone ever thought of Fender Mounted mirrors??

I think the real solution is for CanAm to add a rear facing camera that stays on all the time (not just when backing up as it is on most cars) and a larger screen on the dash that would display the camera's image. Technically would not be difficult for the engineers to add it to the design of...

Where is the best spot for Jack placement?

Where would be the safest spot to place a floor jack under an RT to raise it a bit to make it easier to get to the rear tire stem?

Ramp for rear wheel to make adding air easier

I was thinking about getting a portable ramp that I could keep in my garage, to use as means of making it easier to add air to the rear tire. I'm not if riding the wheel up on to the ramp might end up scraping the front end. Wondering if anyone here has tried it, and if so, what specific ramp...
