• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Jacket

My wife and I wear Tourmaster Flex jackets. Sounds like the jacket Bob Denman described. For 99% of the riding we do, including rain as long as it's not a downpour, it's all we need. Cotton

    Rt 2011

2010 RT with 40,000+ miles still on the original front tires. They are worn some but not badly. Replaced the original rear tire at 9,040 miles. I gave the OEM Yuasa battery to the mechanic that put it together so he would go to the extra trouble of replacing it with a new Odyssey. It's 5...

    CONSUMER REPORT

I have ridden BMW's since 1974 and still have one to go with my 2010 RT. If you do all the recommended maintenance on BMW's, I think they are as rock solid and reliable as anything on the road. But, like Can-Am, BMW recommends a lot of maintenance and some of it requires considerable...

    Some Spyder Observations

In April I'll have 5 years on our 2010 RT and I agree with everything you said. I still ride 2 wheelers when I'm solo but, 2-up, the Spyder has been a life saver. Cotton

    Ryding with a dog?

My wife and I were riding recently and saw a couple riding a Harley stopped at a small convenience store. I noticed they had a BIG dog with them, no idea what kind, just BIG. I wondered how they were riding two up and carrying such a large dog so I stopped to see. Turns out they had a trailer...

    battery problem

I'm not going to say that a battery tender will recharge a battery that is totally dead, that is reads 0.0 volts on a voltmeter, not sure anything will. But a battery tender will recharge one that is very nearly completely dead, it just takes a while. A charger will do it much faster. The 2.5...

    Brake Malfunction warning?

Believe it or not, all this "discussion" is a good reason to check out Spyderlovers if you ride a Spyder. The first time the "brake failure" warning came on my 2010 RT, I was coming down the mountain just south of Sipapu, NM in a thick fog. That could have been really scary if I hadn't known...

    Well, that's off my shoulders.

I agree with you, Dudley. Joyce and I got to see and sit on one at the trade show in Dallas a couple of weeks ago and it's not for us, either. I've never cared for the feet forward riding position but I can see that taller riders might like it. We don't ride as many miles as you and Jennifer...

I want to mount my radar detector in the trunk. 2014 RTS SE6

Sheer genius! I wonder how many other things could be mounted the same way. Makes me wonder why I never thought of something so simple and practical. Cotton

    Am I wrong on this?

Maybe I misread that. If so, I apologize. You have every right to react however you choose. Cotton

    Am I wrong on this?

I agree with everything you said. My point is just that I wouldn't be inclined to blow up and say something that I know I would be sorry for later. And I'm not saying that I wouldn't be a little upset over a scratch or a ding but if I was that concerned about the finish on my Spyder, I...

    Am I wrong on this?

I know I shouldn't respond to this because I'll be the only negative response here but I'm going to anyway. I would never even touch another person's bike without permission, much less sit on it. But I'm an elderly rider, not an elderly person who was obviously intrigued with the Spyder and...

    Recap of 2014 RT Problems

Knowing about potential problems lessens the impact of the problem IF it happens to you. I don't see any point in keeping secrets about problems that may or may not occur. I haven't had many with my 2010 RT but I knew about every one of them before they happened because I read about them on...

    Need some help getting Insurance?

I agree with the advice to use a local insurance agent. In the time that I've insured motorcycles through our agent, they have changed our coverage from one company to another (with our permission, of course) several times when they found that we could get equal coverage at better rates...

    331 Mile F3 Test Ryde

Until the F3's are widely available to ride, I think it's legitimate to consider their performance based on numbers. Numbers don't mean everything but they are a good starting point. Personally, I don't see them as being hot-rods, either. BRP claims 0 - 60 times of 4.8 seconds for the F3 but...

    331 Mile F3 Test Ryde

I haven't weighed either so I can't be positive but the service manual says my 2010 base RT weighs 882 pounds, a difference of only 52 pounds more than the F3. As far as aerodynamics, my guess is that the biggest difference is the windshield and I'll trade the wind protection and comfort for...

    Freedom in Lawrenceville

I agree with all that. I'd also like to see BRP be a little more helpful to their smaller dealers and all the things mentioned would help. But, in my opinion, we customers also play a part. I really feel that we need to be loyal to our local dealers as much as we can. We complain about...

    Advise on which highway pegs.

Do those pegs simply mount to the side panel or do they mount to the frame in some way? I can't tell from the pics. I have a friend who is considering a Spyder and will want highway pegs. These look pretty simple. Cotton
