• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SE5 Riding Suggestions for New Rider

The Rotax motor loves the rpm's. Minimum shift point for me is 4500 and no worries about more aggressive shifting. With the cost of gas today I would roll right past the premium pump. It is simply a waste of money. I have rode aggressively and two up on good ole' reg with no detonation or...

When you come to Canada we prefer you leave your guns at home....you won't need them here anyway :)

Word of warning RE: Rivco Driver Floorboards

Unfortunately things break. It happens. The internet has changed the way we do business and I think that some people (maybe not you..I'm just sayin') choose to go to the internet first rather than call the company and deal with them directly, and that is unfortunate. It is in everyone's best...

Word of warning RE: Rivco Driver Floorboards

I agree that the forums are a great place for information exchange but I am sure that there are manufacturers out there that would love to be given the opportunity to respond first. Regarding this thread you started the title with "Warning..Rivco floorboards". If I didn't read the whole thread I...

    ooooooo la la

Didn't think you could make the Rune look worse but apparently you can! Actually a very nice build but ???? Every Rune I saw here had been on the sales floor for a LLLOOOOONNNNNGGGGG time. One of those "nice when you get it moving" bikes but just never did it for me.

    Oil leak ?

Probably. Easy enough to pull the panels and the airbox cover to have a look inside. Very sensitive to overfills.

    transmission choice? opinions?

I purchased an SE with the hope that my wife would spend some seat time on it. She had not ridden on the street before and I felt the auto would be an easier learning curve. Unfortunately, business and school have held her back from getting into any riding so I do get the majority of time on it...

    Hot Rod RSS?

No reason not to install the filter if you have it. Generally, adding a pipe only can be handled by the stock fuel mapping. However, if you open up the intake then some sort of additional fuel control will stop you from running too lean.

    Isn't limp mode really dangerous

I had a very close encounter of the limp mode kind that almost wiped me out. Highway speed in the left lane going around a right hander. Heavy traffic and my DPS fails and I head into the opposing traffic. Limp mode kicks in to add to the fun. Now I am fighting the bike and losing power. This is...

    helmits

I agree, except for the fact that the costs of accidents are shared by ALL of us. If you want to take a risk and only affect yourself go for it, but that is not the case here. Helmet saved my life and I can't imagine riding without one, or getting hit and leaving my wife and kids to wipe my a**...

Left hand or thumb throttle for RT?

Agreed regarding safety issues. In the event of an emergency, strength and body movement will go along way when it comes to avoidance. Sorry to burst the bubble but if her strength is limited enough to have to move the throttle it has a chance of causing her, and others, injury. The Spyder...

Hopefully, anyone researching a Spyder purchase would also see all the responses below and they are very positive. Looks like a bunch of Spyderlovers members replied with comments!

    Fixed HORRIBLE Squeaking Rear Brakes

Please don't use tape. I like to hot rod stuff as much as the next guy but this is just a little too "backyard". Use a brake squeal compound and be done with it. I have several thousand K's and no squeaks, I used a product that only cost a couple of bucks instead of a few cents and is designed...

    91 octain fuel

All octane does is prevent detonation, particularly under load, or in high compression motors. I think I remember the Rotax is a sub 10:1 CR motor. There is no performance advantage although the placebo effect can be at work. For those that don't know higher octane fuel is actually harder to...

    Handle Bar Badge Removal

Once heated, dental floss slid back and forth behind the badge makes sure you do no damage, which is possible if you get too aggressive trying to peel them.

    Official Paint Codes

Many paint shops can't convert bike codes into car codes to make the mix. I recently had a panel painted on my red Spyder using a GM color that I eyeballed and the match is undetectable..... and I am picky. It is a Sherwin Williams paint, Torch Red code 70.

    Shifting on a RS SE5

I just came back from a ride and, with this post in mind, thought more about shift points and RPM's. At 35 there is no way I would be in fourth gear. Unlikely I would be out of second. One of the things dealers need to get better at is advising purchasers about this motor and how unlike most...

    RS E-Brake...

When adjusted properly you should feel pretty solid after two or three clicks and the bike should not be moveable by hand. If you are going past that you need to adjust at the wheel. A new cable will stretch so not uncommon to have to adjust it early on.
