• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    How Do You Ride?

I try to avoid interstates but if I have no choice, I voted "with the general flow of traffic". However, if the "general flow" is going more than 5 over, they can just pass me. My wife and I rode to meet our daughter and her riding buddies and came back part way with them. 85 MPH was way fast...

What do you think of the 'New for 2025 - Spyder Canyon'?

I started to get a little excited until I saw "belt drive". That killed it for me.

Had to wear Gloves for Can Am riding course - Do you wear gloves? Why? Or why not?

Yes. Debris, sunburn and possibility of crash injury. I have a set of lightweight gauntlets (helps prevent a gap between glove and sleeve for sunburn), lightweight Kevlar gloves if it's just too hot for the gauntlets, Lee Parks Designs gloves for cooler weather and Alpinestars waterproof...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Cleaned up the wiring for the twin Sena Freewires I installed in my F3T and installed my remote volume/intercom control on the RAM mount that holds the GPS.

Looks like it's time to give up the ride - thoughts fm others who've faced this?

teninospyder, my wife and I have been contemplating the same thing for a while now. I had a hip replacement in January that still isn't doing that well and have the other hip replacement scheduled for this coming January. A lifetime of injury has been catching up with me. We picked up a Jeep...

How about heated gear - what's your favorite? Any other suggestions?

I've used both Gerbings and Aerostitch. Both good gear.

Your Weather News @ October 2023 Edition

Here in the Carson Valley of NV we've gone from cool and rainy (with hail in nearby Dayton, NV!) early in the week to more seasonal today at high 70's. Tomorrow, however, it's back to summer with an estimated high of 95 degrees! Forecast for Columbus Day is back to cool (estimated high of 71)...

Red Dust of Death Recall???? Front Sprocket Recall - FINALLY....

Lew, Yes, it is, as I didn't want to have to take it down to Sacramento. They've treated me OK the last time I was in... except for the small detail that I needed to bring it back for the actual replacement. <shrug> They called me this afternoon to let me know that I can pick it up on Saturday...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Dropped it off at the dealer to complete the front sprocket recall... finally!

Red Dust of Death Recall???? Front Sprocket Recall - FINALLY....

It looks like I'll be getting the recall sprocket this Friday (10/6). The dealer is firm on having to keep the F3 for 24 hours "to let the Locktite cure" so we'll have it back the next day. I think I'll be putting some paint pen dots on the sprocket and bolt as I don't really trust this...

Why buy an F3 rather than an RT?

In my case, two reasons in order of importance: 1. Riding the RT was painful due to my bad hips and knees. 2. I prefer "sitting in" and the lower CG of the F3 to "sitting on" the RT - there's less body roll in turns.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Can't do that with the two-tome matte/shiny black, mate... it shows every bit of dirt! :yikes:

What did you do to your Spyder today?

We got rained on last weekend (a week ago) and it sat in the garage for a week, dirty, giving me dirty looks every time I went out there until I washed it!

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Installed Lamonster's cat delete, bar clamp with RAM ball and foam grip covers. Oh, and I washed it... we got caught in the rain last weekend near Lassen Park and hadn't had a chance until today.

Anyone done a Cat Delete leaving stock muffler on?

I just did it. Pitched the baffle that came with the pipe and used Lamonster's "Can Opener" baffle instead. Not too loud, don't notice any difference in performance but now I don't smell burning rubber when I pull into the garage and the F3 is a few pounds lighter.

Red Dust of Death Recall???? Front Sprocket Recall - FINALLY....

I took my F3 into the local dealer (reluctantly) in October of 2022 for the sprocket replacement. I've just received the same letter as FalconAF. I'd been under the impression that the 10/22 repair was the final fix, not the interim repair. Guess I'll have to call the dealer this week and...

Has Anyone Gone Back to 2 Wheels

Still going back and forth between the Street Glide and the F3T despite hip, knee and now back issues. I'll give up 2 wheels when I just can't hold up a Honda Shadow... but 2-up we're always on the F3T for the wife's sake.

Imagine you are on your Spyder when this happens

The closest I've come to that is years ago in SoCal; a pickup truck lost a mattress. I was riding a CB750 at the time and just had enough time to stand up on the pegs and lean back. It was an interesting couple of seconds but the bike rode over the mattress. It's not just following...

Why don'tcha C'mon on Down Under for a visit... ;-)

You should both realize that you're talking about a 19-year old sailor as this was some 46 years ago. We were dumb enough to feed it but smart enough to throw from a good distance, hence I still have all my appendages. Good advice but a little late! :D Not only did that gator get removed...

Why don'tcha C'mon on Down Under for a visit... ;-)

C'mon, that's not really true. When I was going to a Navy school in Orlando, we had a little pond not too far from our barracks. Of course, the pond had an alligator, maybe because we fed it... it never tried to eat us. Well, it never tried too hard. Peter, a trip to Oz is on my bucket list...
