• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can I Solder Parking Brake Cable In Place?

I apologize if it appears that I've been ignoring you. I've been in and out of the hospital several times during the Sept-Dec timeframe, and may have to go back in. I'm trying to get things done between "medical demands", which can't be deferred. The parking brake issue is at the bottom of my...

Can I Solder Parking Brake Cable In Place?

Here are a couple of pics of the EB mechanism... one off and one on. I live in the country, and there aren't many/any junkyards around, and zero who would even know what a Spyder is! Taking it to the dealer in Chesapeake, VA is out because I'd have to trailer it, and because they charge an arm...

Can I Solder Parking Brake Cable In Place?

2012 Spyder RT SE5...parking brake cable pops out of position rendering it useless. I have to pull some Tupperware and put it back in the notch on the rotating "wheel". QUESTION: Can I solder the cable end and barrel shaped end piece to the rotating wheel? I can't afford to replace the...

Any ideas on Replacing Heated Grips with Non-heated Grips? 2012 RT

Thanks! I'll visit Lamonster's site and check them out! I'll check their site, and compare them to Lamonster's version. Thanks!

Any ideas on Replacing Heated Grips with Non-heated Grips? 2012 RT

My 2012 RT SE5 has heated grips. The grips themselves are worn down and "slick" from age and use. I want to replace the grips, but NOT with heated ones. I don't want to have to take a ton of tupperware off and remove the whole grip heating wiring harness, etc, I just want to change my grips for...

Thinking about buying a Can Am - looking for advice??

I'm a little older than you. I've had my Spyder RT SE5 for about 8 years. It's a 2012 with lots of mileage. I know zip zero about the Ryker, but the Spyder RT is a fantastic machine. I can't ride a 2 wheeler any more (bum knee), but the Spyder doesn't require me to hold it up at stop lights...

2012 RT SE5 Intermittent DPS Issues

I've recently begun to have some DPS "issues", but NO codes shown, the 40A fuse is good, the battery is new and the terminal connections are tight. Making it even stranger is that the DPS works fine in reverse! I've got 60,000+ miles of my bike, and this is the first time I've ever had any...

What Panels to Remove on 2012 RT to Expose Parking Brake Cable and Rotor?

Thanks! Good suggestion. I've never done an oil change on my bike...always took it to the dealer for a round of annual maintenance. But I'll start changing my own oil and filters next spring. I need to save every $ I can especially since this Spyder is 11+ years old. :2thumbs:

What Panels to Remove on 2012 RT to Expose Parking Brake Cable and Rotor?

Absolutely right! The front cable had popped out of the pulley. As soon as I got the panels off, it was plain to see. I loosened up and lubed the REAR cable, then pulled the FRONT cable out enough to push it back into the space on the pulley. I lubed it, and made it as straight as I could...

What Panels to Remove on 2012 RT to Expose Parking Brake Cable and Rotor?

Yup! I pulled off a couple of the right-side panels, and immediately saw that the cable was NOT on the pulley. I did exactly as you suggested...I loosened up the cable at the REAR pulley, then cleaned and lubed the cable at the FRONT and REAR pullies. After getting that cable end into the...

What Panels to Remove on 2012 RT to Expose Parking Brake Cable and Rotor?

The parking brake on my 2012 RT is not working, and I get the "parking brake fault" message, along with the 20 beeps when I turn the bike off. The parking brake is NOT stuck ON, and I can ride the bike, and have normal braking capacity. I've checked the fuses...all okay...and the windscreen...

Is there an easy way for Battery Removal? How Long can it sit Battery Removed?

Got the new battery installed, all the electricals reconnected, and the body panels back in place. The bike starts perfectly. HOWEVER, it seems like I've developed a new issue. I'm getting a "parking brake fault", and when I turn the bike off, it beeps for about 20 seconds. When I push the...

Dealers are refusing to work on Old Spyders!

That's a pretty long haul! My challenge is that I'd have to have someone follow me to the dealership, and drive me back home...then drive me back to the dealership when the bike was ready. From here to Winston-Salem, its 258 miles. I'm going to search for Can Am dealers a bit closer.

Is there an easy way for Battery Removal? How Long can it sit Battery Removed?

Good suggestion. I can charge it for 8-12 hours, then check the voltage before installing it. By the way, the "old" battery wasn't installed by me. It was done by a Can Am dealer, so I had no opportunity to charge it before installation. And the "old" battery (the one I just took out) was on...

Dealers are refusing to work on Old Spyders!

I have a 2012 RT SE5, and if my dealer (40 miles away) refused to work on it, I'd be screwed for sure. The reasons given for NOT working on bikes older than 10 years sound okay, but in my opinion, they don't cut it. Parts availability? Lots of parts dealers out there... Knowledge of "older...

Is there an easy way for Battery Removal? How Long can it sit Battery Removed?

Got the battery coming in to a store by me...will pick it up on Monday, and if not raining, I'll install it (with the star washers on the posts). I'll hook up my 2Amp charger for a couple of hours, then start it up, and go for a test run. :-)

Is there an easy way for Battery Removal? How Long can it sit Battery Removed?

The manual says to remove the rear side panel...but it looks like that requires a couple of other panels to be removed first. Changing the battery on a 2012 RT is a huge pain in the butt...very bad design by BRP. I'll get to removing the minimum number of panels so I'll have enough room to...

Is there an easy way for Battery Removal? How Long can it sit Battery Removed?

Thanks! I'll take a look at the manual, and give that method a try. I'll let you know how that process works out. I'm not concerned about losing radio stations because I never use the radio. LOL And I'd need to use binoculars to read the clock because the numbers are so small. :-)

Is there an easy way for Battery Removal? How Long can it sit Battery Removed?

I need to change the battery on my 2012 RT SE5. It's deader than a doornail. I've seen several vids on removing the battery on this model, and they all require the removal of several body panels. Is there an easier way to remove/swap the battery? I know BRP moved the battery to the frunk in...
