• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Are Straight wound springs going to be better than Progressive rate springs?

Thanks for the reply Ron... I didn't want to chase the suspension with different rate springs due to the cost. I would rather bite the bullet and go down a different path, if anything. Yes, the bike felt ok riding, but I wasn't sure if that was just the placebo effect. I was really dismayed when...

Are Straight wound springs going to be better than Progressive rate springs?

Hi Mikey. Yes, the bike has a swaybar and a Wilber rear shock with the correct spring. I compared it with a mate's 2020 and mine is too soft (side to side rocking), so I am questioning the use of prog rate springs on the front of Spyder

Are Straight wound springs going to be better than Progressive rate springs?

Looking for some suspension advice... 2014 RT-S I recently replaced my front shocks with some locally sourced items (Australia). I had a choice of normal-medium-heavy springs and chose medium, but having fitted them, I am starting to question the type of springs used (progressive rate). A mate...

2014 front pulley replacement - does it need the flywheel?

just to let u no Pete yesterday i removed the pulley..as you can see from the pics it was rusted on....it was a bear to remove but after i fitted the new pulley and belt my tension increased from 140ft/lbs OTG to 200 ft/lbs OTG ......also the belt, when side by side with the new belt,showed...

2014 front pulley replacement - does it need the flywheel?

Hi Pete and thanks for reply. If that thrumming is rhythmic (not constant) then that's what I've got.... I didn't want to address the front sprocket as I am leasing the bike out to an interstater at the end of the month and was going to attack the problem after the lease.... But the ride to the...

2014 front pulley replacement - does it need the flywheel?

Thanks for reply Ron. When I tried to align the belt, I loosened the right-side adjuster..... but the wheel doesn't move to the left because the belt tension pulls it to the right... so I used a wedge to push the wheel to the left then tightened the axle.... but when I tighten the axle, the...

2014 front pulley replacement - does it need the flywheel?

No, I didn't Ron. The best I could do, using a wooden wedge against the right side of the swing arm, was around 1.5mm gap to the inner flange... this was another pointer to a weird belt as usually I have no trouble setting belts to wherever I want them to sit; but the noise was there before I...

2014 front pulley replacement - does it need the flywheel?

OK Ron The bike is making a cyclic noise.... not a vibration... where would you start? The noise is under load from start to 50 mph.... back off the throttle and the noise stops....... It sounds like the belt to me - a bearing would be a constant hum, not a "whup, whup, whup.... I am guessing...

2014 front pulley replacement - does it need the flywheel?

thanks for reply....how would you classify a belt which has done 40,000 miles at 300 lbs? and gives weird effects when the tension is corrected?....my money says its stuffed...well i will know soon enough...the front sprocket isnt too expensive so i will change both before i start pulling the...

2014 front pulley replacement - does it need the flywheel?

yes...no need to revisit,i did notice no part number or availability for the flywheel....i am chasing a cyclic noise which i hope to resolve with a new belt..i am definately not an advocate of belt tensioners so cant go down that track.....and if i suspect the belt then its a no brainer to...

2014 front pulley replacement - does it need the flywheel?

after resetting the tension(release both sides evenly) on the belt the alignment was way off....it needed half a turn on one side to re align....this tells me that there is sthing wrong with the belt........there are other reasons to replace the front sprocket, red dust is only 1 of the...

2014 front pulley replacement - does it need the flywheel?

I bought a 2014 RT-S with 65000kms (40,000 mls?) on it. When I checked the belt tension (Krikit 2) it was around 300lbs on the ground. When I reset tension to 140lbs, the belt was no longer true on the rear sprocket (it was trying to come off the sprocket; well, half anyway.) This tells me that...

F3 revs its date out on startup - any way to settle it down?

Hi all, just wondering what causes the F3 to rev so high on starting? My RT is smooth, with minimal rpm increase... it can't be good for the engine, revving up with no oil pressure..... Is there any way to settle it down? Or is it a function of the ECU? TIA... Russ

What is the 2nd BUDS plug for?

The 2014 RT has a second BUDS plug socket.its the one in the white sleeve The workshop manual shows high and low CanBus wires only coming from it and then they go to the TCM. The only help in the wiring diag ...it says BRP diagnostic (I think?) Given there is no power wire, I wonder what it...

Is it possible to delete start up routine?

Is it possible to delete the start-up routine using BUDS/Mega? I had an ECU Upgrade from Jase in Qld and the start-up routine was gone. I had an ECU Upgrade from Monster and I think the start-up routine was gone (can't remember) but they couldn't disable DESS as Jase could. I can now disable...

V twin taking ages to fire up - any thoughts on this?

Back in the day I had a 2013 RT, and on 2 occasions (both after trailering bike) the bike wouldn't start. It would crank over fine but not start. After around 10 secs of cranking it timed out and this took around 3 "cycles" before the bike finally, reluctantly, spluttered into life. i never...

What would cause a torn clutch drum? RSS V-Twin SE5

Thanks for reply PMK..... Yes, she felt no stoppage, just no drive. I was able to prove all gears from back wheel to clutch hub centre and all smooth so really relieved, I wasn't looking forward to a gearbox repair. Parts are ordered and should be up and running by mid next week (so happy to...

What would cause a torn clutch drum? RSS V-Twin SE5

A friend rang me... said she lost drive while ryding uphill at 70kph when it went bang then no drive. Thinking it's the pulley (the bike is 2015 RSS with 105,000 kms) I flatbed it home and start looking.... The engine runs, I selected first (with a click not a clunk) but can still spin the...
