• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    2013 RTL POST RECALL

It is baffling that some folks place looks of a bike over safety and comfort. Just goes to show you that you can't please everyone. Hope they don't get seriously hurt or something worse.

    BRP got it right!!

Heat wrap exhaust headers, remove the cat converter and install bypass. This will greatly reduce heat coming from underneath. 2014 grill will reduce right foot heat. Bike will also run much better.

    Ready to cry...Spyder fire

Was the tandem master cylinder recall completed before the leak/fire occurred? If so, this indicates the tandem master cylinder recall was not effective.

How to remove the upper side panel where the vents are attached

That is a great idea, probably forces the air flow downward. I used heat reflective insulation under the glove box, front of gas tank, and frame hole under seat prior to the recall; so that is probably why I don't feel anything after the recall was done. I believe recall did require heat...

How to stay cool when riding in the heat (~95+)

Those towels work well. I know some motorcycle stores also sell a evaporator vents. My friends say the work well also. The neck wraps work well also.

How to remove the upper side panel where the vents are attached

Yep, sitting on top or just behind a motorcycle engine is not comfortable in hot weather. My 2013 Road King gets pretty warm when it's hot out and the gas tank get very warm to touch. Road my wife's RT about 60 miles again today, temp was 95 on the Spyder display screen. Everything still cool...

How to remove the upper side panel where the vents are attached

Thanks for the information. Puzzling that it is hotter than before in the glove box and panels, especially since the acoustic panels were removed with the recall, and should help with airflow. Riding in temps over a 100 is understandably uncomfortable. Again thanks for your quick response.

How to remove the upper side panel where the vents are attached

You have a 2014 RT correct? Perhaps is just the sun beating down on you bike heating it up. Have not heard of problems with the 2014's.

How to remove the upper side panel where the vents are attached

You are the first to report rather hot glove box and air panels after the recall was done. Do you have any other mods such as header heat wrap or cat delete on your RT? Did you have the gas smell, boiling gas or hot gas cap when you parked your bike when you got home? Riding in temps above...

Initial Impressions of the Heat-related Recall for 2013 RT Roadsters

    Thanks for the quick response.

Initial Impressions of the Heat-related Recall for 2013 RT Roadsters

So Mr Hayfield; how was the seat, glovebox, and upper panels temperature during your rides, and slow traffic? Was the gas cap temp okay to touch when stopping for fuel?

    Ready to leave Harley

Strongly agree agree with your comments, I ride a Harley and my wife rides a Spyder. Never been one to make bad comments about riding ANY motorcycle. I think by riding a motorcycle we all have something in common whether we want to admit it or not (which is the freedom you feel on the open...

    Ready to cry...Spyder fire

Hey Mclaw44; any word on what caused your fire/ fluid leak? We sure would like to know what caused this so we take the proper action to elevate this issue.

2013 recall report after long ride 100deg ambient.

As many have also said with these two mods; the throttle response is better and the OEM muffler has a better sound IMO.

2013 recall report after long ride 100deg ambient.

Thanks for the reply. Cat bypass does make a considerable difference. I think the header heat wrap also helps allot. Perhaps header heat wrap on the header in front of the MC in conjunction with the MC recall would assist in keeping the MC safer. Heat wrapping this area of the header would be...

2013 recall report after long ride 100deg ambient.

Good report and temp database. Do you have your headers wrapped and a cat bypass installed? These two mods along with the heat reflective insulation and the recall have done wonders for my wife's RTS. I do not think anything will alleviate all the heat when sitting still. I wish someone would...

Recall done first impressions after stop & go traffic

Perhaps one of the Spyder aftermarket vendors could manufacture reasonably priced after market air scoops for prior year 2013 RT's? I think removal of the inner acoustic panels and the air scoops would make a difference in riding comfort for sure. If BRP does at some point does offer this recall...

    2013 RT Recall First Impression

I thought BRP indicated they would have enough to complete the recall on all bikes by now. Maybe your dealer could call around and find out if another dealer has excess kits? Sorry to hear your Spyder will not be taken care of quickly. Seems like BRP should issue the kits based on a vehicle...

    Ready to cry...Spyder fire

Have you received any feedback from your dealer on the cause of the leak/fire? We are all concerned about this, especially if the tandem master cylinder recall was previously accomplished.
