• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I may have to forfeit my "motorcyclist" membership card!

I'm sort of in the same boat as you. Nearly 85 and I get very tired riding my Spyder. Itching to buy a Royal Enfield but my legs are a bit too short (29") to comfortably support it. Broke my wrist in Jan and cannot get full movement back and cannot operate throttle on either my Spyder or MP3. I...

    Electric Spyder next?

BC & Quebec are the two most major provinces where the electricity is produced by water power and is cheap. My daughter just bought a VW ID.4 EV and got a total of $12,000 government rebates. I personally love the feel of the V-twin in my '08 GS SM5 and love changing gears (most of the time)...

What Kind of Rider are you?

Unless I fit snow tires on my Spyder I am legally not allowed on the roads of Quebec from Dec 1st to Mar 15th. Same rules as for autos. For me, dry, warm (70F+) and daylight.

Looks like it's time to give up the ride - thoughts fm others who've faced this?

As a result of my reply #10, I went out and viewed a 2011 Miata with an electrically folding steel roof. I liked it very much. I t was lower than I had hoped though. Went to the salesman's officeto look at its details and Carfax. All ok. I turnned around and outside the office was a 2010 Lexux...

Looks like it's time to give up the ride - thoughts fm others who've faced this?

In the same boat myself. My '08GS has sat with all it bugs on for the past 6 weeks. I can only manage a 3hr ride these days before becoming very tired (I'm 84 with med problems). I took an overnighter into the Adirondacks in the summer and practically fell off the Spyder when I got home. I can...

Does the Rear Wheel Speed Sensor need all these shims?

Your tool kit contains feeler gauges to measure the distance between the speed sensor and the ring gear. I guess you add/remove shims so the appropriate feeler just fits. I have never found the need to change mine from factory amount fitted.

Cam Chain adjusters not pumping up for assembly - how do you make them work??.

I seem to remember turning my engine from the stator side by removing the plug with a hex key then putting the correct sized wrench in and turning CCW

Ugh. Another Rear Tire Sizing Concern (Sorry)

I have recently installed the Altimax 215/60 R15 on my 2008 GS. It fits just fine with the added bonus that my speedo now reads the same as my Garmin Zumo GPS.

So that happened. Passed out from the heat.

I think it has to be paired with an Apple phone. It won't work with you have an Android phone. Thought I read that somewhere.

So that happened. Passed out from the heat.

At almost 84, I still do all the work on my '08 Spyder. I do it in my heated/AC garage so excessive heat is not a problem. I do not actually remove the tire from the rim but do remove the rear wheel. Recently did that to have a new Altimax tire put on rim. Removed wheel ok, had tire installed...

I had a run in with BRP’s infamous Loctite x2

Are you sure those bolts had a 12mm diameter threaded portion or you had to use a 12mm wrench on the bolt heads. A 12mm bolt is a rather large bolt
