• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    2014 Can Am Spyder Videos

I have to give BRP credit for responding to Spyder owners suggestions: better mpg, longer range, more low end torque, 6 speed transmission, driver backrest, heat management system lower maintenance cost.. I am happy with my 2013 RT though so 2015 will be my next Spyder.

    in court as a juror

There is a start button for cars that can detect alcohol blood level, but the liquor and restaurant industry are blocking it because it will lower their profits. If someone sober pushed the starter for the drunk, he would face criminal and civil penalties, perhaps a 2nd degree murder charge. The...

    in court as a juror

It would be better to use existing technology to prevent drunks from starting a car in the first place. Nothing can undo the damage already done, but they should go to jail.

    BRP successful IPO

I think it is time for a name change with more descriptive initals. BRP , burp, and DOO , doodoo do not do the fine products justice.

    Electric Bike

Had an electric scooter which worked well until the batteries died. Could not get replacement batteries anywhere. Replaced it with a Honda Metropolitan 50cc scooter which is fun and fuel efficient 137 mpg. Batteries in EVs are always going to be problematic.

Many New High end Motorcycles now provide similar Nanny functionality as the Spyder.

BRP to their credit has been the first to adapt automotive safety technology to the Spyder on a large scale. But other brands are doing so as well to a limited extent.

So what would make you trade up to a 2014?

Would not trade our 2012 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner quad cab or 2013 Spyder RT as we are satisfied with both. However would like to see an oil sight glass on the Spyder and an in dash 12v outlet. Also warning lights in the Tacoma mirror if a car is in your blind spot.

    Optimum Operating RPM

On two lane highways always in fourth gear. Fifth over 65 to 70 mph. I like to cruise around 5500 to 6500 rpm. As long as the transmission is fully engaged I don't think rpm matters.

    2013 Spyders

No problems with my 2013 RT. Like anything manmade it is not going to be perfect and there will be some bad apples which is why there are warranties. Even Honda the reliabiliy king had to recall some Goldwings a few years ago because of brake fires.

    Lugging? Maybe?

If the engine felt like it was looking for another gear to prevent lugging it would be 4th gear. I think you are on the borderline between switching up to 5th gear. I get 30 mpg but rarely go over 55 mph since I try to avoid freeways.

Motorcycle GPS (you get what you pay for)

I use a Garmin Nuvi 40 in an Arkon gps case. The case is mounted on the SRT cupholder accessory bar which keep the gps close enough to view in sunlight. If I had an expensive gps I would have to take it off the bike when parking , which isn't convenient.

A good dealer who does a thorough 600 mi inspection is worth the trip and is an asset to BRP.
