• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    for you aerostiched BMW riders

Good job keeping up with him! I just followed my aerostiched VFR-riding friend through the twisties on CA 128 near Calistoga. He was amazed that I was right on his tail the whole time, and that when I led, he couldn't keep up with me. Of course, I may be a little crazier than he is, but...

Maybe 2 wheels again for me....

I understand the need for the lean, also. Put my Spyder up here in claissifieds, then had second thoughts - I've got way too much invested in it and way more mileage than most folks would think was appropriate. So I'm going to pick up a used sport bike to fling around the twisties. I doubt if...

    Ready for the rain?

I've used Merrill Moab gore-tex hiking boots for a few years now -- mesh and cool for the heat, but waterproof for the rain. Worked well in snow also as long as it snot too cold. They are the most comfortable hiking boots I've ever worn. When I get to my destinations ( usually some national...

    Alternate route thru Colorado?

Dealer in CO Springs folded a while ago. Closest is Denver now.

    Alternate route thru Colorado?

285 is mostly pretty nice after you get past the connection to 470. I've ridden from there to Salida. Some truck traffic but OK. Coming down from Salida to Alamosa I haven't done. Once on 160, if you have time you might take the turn to LaVeta on CO 12, which will take you the back way to...

Is it just me? Feel beat after a long ride

I agree wholeheartedly! Just finished a ride over 3000 miles with a few 500-mile days. Tired - damn straight! But I wouldn;t even have tried without a good windshield, risers, and my highway pegs. My idea of hydration is to drink a bottle of something at every gas stop. Of course, this...

    Thanks to RPM in Denver

Well, they may or may not be the highest volume dealer in the US, but they sure were nice to this rider last week. I was passing through Denver and needed an oil change. Stopped in and they rearranged their maintenance work for the following morning ( when I was leaving for Alamosa) to do the...

    Thanks to Spyderpops

I agree! The service was really quick and the missing air dam really works. I put it on a few weeks ago and then went out for a 3000 mile ride. Never over 3 bars, even idling in traffic in Moab,UT at 80 degrees. Yes, a nincompoop can do it -- I am living proof of that!:joke:

    Top High Mileage Spyders

Move over -- I hit 31664.9 miles today :2thumbs: By the time September rolls around ( 2 years from when I bought it), I should have closer to 40,000. Unless it sells before then!

    SPYDERPOPS WEBSITE UP

Great product, Pops! Installed mine on Tues. Left Weds and have put on 1500 miles across CA, NV, UT and CO -- haven't seen over 3 bars yet!!!

    Unusual Destinations

The festival is May 15-16. I'll leave Sacto 5/12. Meeting up with a buddy hopefully on the 15th at Fruita. After the festival, continuing on to Denver for a reunion.

    Unusual Destinations

I'm riding to the "Mike the Headless Chicken" festival in beautiful downtown Fruita, Colorado. Not to be missed!!

    Rear tire

340 should be for all 3 tires - and even that is a bit high. I just picked up a Yokohama for the rear from tire Rack. Dealer charged me 130 to mount, but even that was cheaper than buying the tire from him. this is my third rear tire -- I never get more than 14000 from one. Trying the...

Any release date for the new "modular" helmet

I doubt if you'll see it in the States soon. Reading the review on WebBikeWorld, http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/givi/x-01/ I see it has a rather large top vent section. This meets ECE standards, but this was the same issue that delayed the Nolan N43 Air coming to the states...

Hauling a Spyder from Ohio to Georgia

Last summer I met a guy ( don't remember his handle on the board) who was carrying his Spyder in the full-size pickup-- backed in it just fit. He towed the pick-up behind his motor home. He called a tow company when he wanted to get Spyder out of the truck - drove it off onto their flatbeds...

    ISO photos of Orange Spyders

Yeah, I've got the Corbin seats. I doubt, though, that I'll get out to York this year on the Spyder - maybe next year. Flying out this year instead and plan to pick up a used sportbike for the summer.

    ISO photos of Orange Spyders

Well, if the pic works right, mine could be called orange -- although I prefer "copper". BTW, you might have seen mine in person last summer as I visited a friend who lives outside York. I've since added the Givi bags.

    Adjustable footrest

Welcome to the ride! I'd recommend highway pegs. Being able to stretch your feet out on long rides is really great. I'll switch back and forth between the standard pegs and the highway pegs. I think mine are from Kewlmetal, but there are others on eBay. You might search on this board also...

    1st Ride to Downtown!

I was out that way a few weeks ago -- Beatty to Amargosa Valley and Death Valley. When Nevada gets wind, there's nothing from Idaho to Mexico to stop it. Hope you get out on 95 and 6 -- there's some great riding in NV!
