• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Lost My RT Oil Panel

Lucky me! Looking back over the other pics in this thread, I noticed that mine seems to be the only RT with the "front hook". Why in the world did BRP eliminate this hook on the newer models? The hook was the best insurance to keep these panels where they belong... on the Spyder!

2010 RT Windshield - too tall

Thin (1/32"-1/16" thick) abrasive cutoff blades are the safest way to cut plastic windscreens. As BlueKnight mentions, they tend to melt the edge as the cut progresses and significantly reduce the possibility of stress fractures that can destroy the windscreen. A small handheld high speed cutoff...

    Lost My RT Oil Panel

2010 RT oil panel... Here you can plainly see the front hook on the 2010 RT oil panel. This is the hook that needs to be latched around the filter housing to prevent air from popping the panel off of the pins.

    Lost My RT Oil Panel

The key to keeping these panels on the Spyder is to make sure that the front hook is behind the filter housing on either side. Best way I've found to install them is: Insert top front pin in gromet. Rotate the panel slightly forward and engage the front hook in the filter housing. Rotate back...

    Oil change spills...

Wow! The newer RT's must haver more clearance between the pan and the tank. There's no way that plug would fit between there on mine.

    Oil change spills...

I used to stuff a rag around the hole in the pan to absorb any stray oil, because just lowering the plug through the hole caused oil to splatter onto the pan. Try this... you'll like it.

    Oil change spills...

splash pan... Scotty, the pan I'm refering to is the metal pan under the oil tank. I remove the plastic splash pan under the engine drain and filter during each oil change... only 3 bolts, and no big deal.

    Oil change spills...

To prevent oil from running onto the pan beneath the oil tank when draining the oil, insert a 2" long section of 1" diameter clear plastic hose (available from Lowes) through the hole in the pan, and over the boss on the bottom of the tank. This will allow passage of the hex extension through...

    another oil question

mobil 1-4T The Mobil 1 4T formula has evidently been changed. If you look around, you can still find some of the older "non SM" oil on the shelves. As the Mobil 1 was getting scarce, I opted to switch to Amsoil on my last change.

    Rear tire wear

rear tire change... Let's face it, changing the rear tire is a time consuming, labor intensive process... especially if you do it yourself. Sure you could pay the dealer, but then your paying more for the labor than for the tire itself. Unlike a front tire change, the rear requires...

    Rear tire wear

rear tire wear... My rear tire wore down to the center bars at around 8,500 miles. By 10,000 miles, it was into the outer bars. I had been running at 30psi in the rear because the handling was much better than the lower pressure. With the tire at 30psi, and in a static state, the tire was...

    DIY video for you

John, I too use the Rhino Ramps for the front wheels, but I actually run the RT up onto them. Most of the time I'll run it up in reverse so that the ramp portion is out in front of the Spyder, and it doesn't restrict me. After the front wheels are up on the ramp, I jack the rear using a locator...

    Rear Air Bag

air bag... Erick, since you'll be riding mostly "one-up" now :joke:, the compressor might be an unwarranted expense. Get the airbag and fitting replaced and you should be good to go. Since I fixed mine, I only check the air presure when I check my tires, and have had no problems. The problem...

I get the impression that this is a side business for George. His phones rings off the hook, and the two times I have been able to get through to his cell phone, he has had excuse after excuse. It's been over a month, and still no socks.

Has anyone had a positive experience with "techsox.com"? I've been waiting for over a month for a couple of pairs of motorcycle socks. Their three phones dump me to voice-mail everytime I call, and when I finally do get through, I get promisses out the wazzoo, but no results. :dontknow:
