• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Help: NMN 4" Risers on a SE5

I left the plastic spacers out and just let the raw bar show. It gives a nice place to bar mount any RAM mounts. Others have cut the original bars long and used that as a bar mount spot for RAM mount or cruise control additions. On both sides I ran the cables on the drivers side of the...

Can the Recall Update be UNDONE?

Have you tried pinching closed the hose from the purge valve to the throttle body? On some Spyders a stuck open purge valve is making the machine run really lean. If it runs better with the hose pinched then you've found your problem. If not at least that's one problem you don't have.

    Canisterectomy

The Spyder system is nothing like on most cars. It is a very rudimentary system without all the self test and pressure checks typical of most cars. Been running for a while now without the canister and no error codes yet.

What did you order, from where and how much! This is the one I found. http://www.sealfast.com/f_oetiker_service.html

    Canisterectomy

I've actually mulling over whether to get an Oetiker kit. If I do much more hose work it just might pay for itself. And it'll keep em guessing as to whether or not they were the ones that made that modification.:D

    Found another catch can

Not to second guess someone that has a lot more experience than me..... But what happens when that splash of liquid fuel (which is what caused the canister to fail in the first place) hits the airbox?:dontknow:

    Canisterectomy

Spyder stopped. Power off. Purge solinoid closed. Vapors and air from the tank flow out the vent hose and into the evap canister where the vapors are absorbed by the activated charcoal in the canister. The air, minus the gasoline vapors exits via the small curved vent hose on the top of the...

    Anyone used Ride On?

You end up letting all that Nitrogen out in order to put the Ride-on in. But then N is all hype {IMHO} anyway so don't worry about it.

    Canisterectomy

This is true. Though once you get liquid gas in the canister it ceases to function as designed. Theoretically as you continue to pull air thru the canister via the purge valve and into the throttle body it should eventually clear the liquid and return to function. Unfortunately since we refill...

    Anyone used Ride On?

I've got it in my tires. Mostly preventative for flats. The only thing I noticed over the winter was when I couldn't ride for a couple weeks I would get vibration from the front wheels for the first mile or two untill the stuff redistributes. I've had no issues this summer. It's very smooth on...

After my ride today. I noticed..... Nothing. No change in performance.:D No error codes.:D And best of all..........No smell.:D

    Canisterectomy

The line from the engine arrives at a solinoid and from there plugs into the canister. I removed it from the canister and plugged it, leaving the solinoid where I found it. That's the bolt head you see there hanging down in the middle of the picture. The solinoid is, I think, called a purge...

    Canisterectomy

Unlike some Spyder owners, mine had never had the gas smell before. This was a first time for me. The canister reeks and is sitting outside! The Spyder doesn't anymore. Will be riding either later today or tomorrow......depends on how work goes.

    Canisterectomy

After all the fire reports, some associated with the strong smell of gas. And after coming back from a 100 mi. ride and parking the Spyder and then walking back into the garage an hour later to the very strong smell of gas. I was worried. I concluded that there were only two sources of gas...

    poor se5 gas mileage

The recall will probably help. Agree with Smokester use 87 Octane. Premium gas will reduce your mileage.

How about a poll for the steering recall?

You probably don't need a new power steering unit. See my reply here http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13184

Spyder Steering Recall and Customer Service

The last thing that you often get on the software update is a "DPS failure" code. My mechanic said "No biggie" cleared the error, reset the torque sensor and rebooted and no error code. Spyder works just fine.:D

How about a poll for the steering recall?

I watched as they did the firmware flash. There are several spots where a warning message pops up and rather than hit either choice (Ignore, Cancel) if you just wait it goes away on its own. The mechanic said that if you hit either choice you've just screwed it up.:yikes: One of those pops...

How about a poll for the steering recall?

Had mine done on Monday. The steering is improved at low speed. I notice no difference at speed which is to be expected. The shifting seems unchanged.( It's always shifted smoothly except when you let it downshift into first by itself and then there's a small jerk) I'm going to add the ground...
