• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Paint for back rest question?

I had some matching paint mixed at an automotive paint store. They put it into an aerosol can for a reasonable price. That should do a backrest easily. If you need to do a 2-step process, I don't know what you'd need to do with that. Maybe selling it and buying the correct one would be a...

    Thought for the Day...

My whirly bits happily spin well over 8K. They have more courage than their operator. :opps: So, SpiderSue, are you retired from BVSD PE dept? If so I probably helped lure you onto a Spyder. Good going girl. P

RSS Brake Squeal and Odd Sounding Downshift

As you come to a stop the downshift to 1st doesn't get the throttle blip like other downshifts. That can make it sound and feel a bit different. Should not be a concern.

Installed Kuryakan Black Iso Grips, Throttle Boss and end weights today.

I installed the iso grips last weekend. The throttle side went on nice and tight. The left one was very loose. I wrapped 2 layers of Gorilla tape around the handlebar before it was tight at all. I'd like to not glue them on so that they can be removed if I have to in the future. They are...

Travel tips for BlueRidge Parkway NC?

The Parkway is a beautiful road but also is the worst ride in my memory because of one thing....FOG! I've ridden thru a snowstorm over Rabbit Ears Pass and a couple inches of hail in New Mexico but that fog was scary. What I didn't expect was that it also fills the tunnels so there was no...

Oil Change instruction from BRP including Torque information !

My lower side panel is very hard to remove where it hooks under the upper side panel. When both need to be removed it's a lot easier to do the upper one first making the lower one free to come off. Same is true in reverse order when replacing them. Just a little trick I've learned. :) I...

    hydrualic hand brake

I have the ISCI handbrake and it is a longer than normal reach. You should try to find one to test. Luckily I have fairly long hands but it took some time to adjust to it. I looked at it long and hard but could not see an easy way to modify it that I felt would still operate correctly. That...

Poll: How old are you :-)

I met a man last weekend with a new RT Limited, a beauty, with just 100 miles on it. He's about to turn 90 and it's his 1st motorcycle ever. Now, there's an outlook on life. We helped him put another 150 miles on it that day. Ride on!!

    acknowledging other oncoming bikers

I get waves from most bikers of all types especially if I wave first. Some just raise the fingers of the left hand rather than letting go of the handlebar. That's easy to miss. Sometimes you can't wave safely like in the middle of a curve. Watching the road is first priority! If I don't...

    Vista-Cruise throttle lock

Thanks for posting this. I've been wondering if there was a version of this that would fit w/o any cutting or drilling and it looks like you found. I'm ordering one right away.

    SE or SM?

If you have followed this forum at all you will get the impression that a lot of people are buying the SE even though they don't need it due to inexperience or physical limitations. They like it and so do I. It's the slickest thing since sliced bread. Smooth fast shifts under any condition...

    Spyder alue

The value of your Spyder should have nothing to do with having a loan or not. You agree on a price with your buyer. If there's a loan you both go to the bank and give the payment to the bank. They pay off the loan, give the buyer the title and give the seller any left over money. The deal is...

    Spyder's Power.....Can I keep up?

Ride with people who respect every riders individual speed and style. I rode with the same good friend for years and he rides sport bikes while I rode standards and later trikes. When we got too far apart the leader would stop and wait for the other. When he was having an off day I would be...

    A Front Tire Story

This alignment has been checked by one dealer already in AZ. I'm now over 100m from a dealer so I don't pop down there freely. I keep thinking that an auto alignment shop should be able to do this but no one seems to have found a way. Maybe because the Spyder is so narrow. On another thread...

How fast can a spyder go...

Silver for sure!! Had my SE5 up to 105 maybe twice on an empty smooth road. It didn't fell strained at all but that's plenty fast for an old guy like me. That power is nice when you want to do a quick pass of a slower vehicle tho. ;)

    A Front Tire Story

Based on the info here about front tires I went to Discount Tire to mount Falken 512's in 185/60-14 on the front of my 09 RS. Set up in front of the OEM's they looked quite a bit bigger. Yikes! We decided to give it a try. I have the optional 6 spoke design wheels. When removing the tire...

    Front tire rotated

I have this same problem with inside wear. The dealer says it's all in spec. They also claim that aggressive cornering will cause this type of wear. I do have a lot of 'dancing' over uneven road surfaces and seams. I'm at 9500 miles and am starting to research my car tire options. About...

    Brake Failure

:agree: I just went thru the same thing. Added about a tbsp worth of fluid and all is well. Always try the simplest fix first!!

Snow Bird going to warmer places

That's an amazing wrapping job! You have a lot of miles to go so let us know how well it holds up. I've hauled a few loads of furniture wrapped like that for 900 miles. I suggest you keep a roll of duct tape handy. Might just need it.

lights seem to brighten and dim

I had headlight modulators on my 2 wheelers and quite often cars would pull over and let me go by. I felt a little bit bad when that happened but no harm was ever done. On the plus side I did know that I was being noticed. That's good!
