• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    The trip from HELL!!

I'd certainly agree that it's ONE of the things wrong... but without it and many other of the things that are deemed wrong, we wouldn't be what we are today - not sure I'd want to see that. Still Proud!

    Jerky Braking?

Most of the time, I downshift before the Spyder would by itself... but every once in a while, if I'm distracted, I'm jolted out of my daydream by the auto-downshift. What you describe sounds pretty normal to me. BTW, I find that during decelleration, if I hold the throttle JUST a tiny bit on...

    The trip from HELL!!

I think it's a function of an increasingly litigious society. They do all they can to cover their butts in case of a law suit. Plaintiff's attorney: "You mean BRP had the ability to make the Spyder automatically slow to a safe speed when a burnt out headlight was detected and you DIDN'T...

    what else is available

It's a TriRod F3-Adrenaline. The company is in San Diego and they're currently looking for capital investors to go into production. Several weeks ago, I saw the prototype in the pics above in the garage belonging to one of the partners in the company - he lives 2 doors down from me...

putting a bigger tire and penske shocks on

True, Scotty. But even if sampling rate (I assume you mean time between pulses and not the derivative of the count), I'd wager that they integrate quite a few (yes there is induced lag)... but at 60mph, they're seeing what, ~20 rpm at the wheel so around 1200 pulses per second? If they don't...

putting a bigger tire and penske shocks on

Simple suggestion - if you're willing to do some permanant disfigurement - Since the wheel sensors are just sensing the teeth on what was previously called the 'target wheel', removing one or more of the teeth from both FRONT 'target wheels' will make the system see fewer counts per revolution -...

    Pls Help: Check Transmission

Agreed, as long as you see a hint of oil on the dipstick cold, wait till the engine is warm to worry about adding any. Are you an SE5 or SM5?

    MPG

Stop and go throws the air drag issues out the window. Now you have to move ALL that inertia - the bike and rider - from a stop to road speed over and over. This takes a lot of energy and is why highway MPG is usually better than city MPG (except for Prius's). In stop and go, the 'gentility' in...

Yes, if those twisty roads didn't call to me, and the occasional long straight without any cars (or LEO's) in sight wasn't so inviting, I'd like to figure it out too... but, alas, I have so little willpower when it comes to riding fun.

There is an optimum speed, as mentioned above, that is a mix of the most efficient RPM of the engine and the least amount of drag (both rolling friction and air resistance). As speed goes up, air resistance becomes the dominating force. Power required to overcome air drag goes up as the CUBE...

    Carlo Responds

Okay. I won't say that some of you argument doesn't make sense; just that, IMO, it will be overcome by fact in the end. These are individual opinions, afterall; neither of us has more than a tiny bit of the whole story. And, no, I don't think that BRP is looking out for me... I think they're...

Lamonster and several others found that the magnets in the rubber dash buttons were prone to slipping, causing multiple or constant switch engagement. This my be related to your issue. Perhaps Lamonster can refresh us as to the fix?
