• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rear fender / belt guard question

Like this?? "We took the stock rear mud guard support and cut it down so that it was just higher than the belt. I re-plated the top section, used body filler and then coated it with gloss black. Easy custom belt guard." See http://spyderryders.net.au/tips.html

It's Official - BRP charges premium prices

About $38k Aus here (92 Aus cents to the US dollar) for the RT only. I really dont think the pprice has anything to do with how much it costs to land a Spyder here. I think it is more to do with what the market will pay. The price is around the same as a fully loaded Gold Wing here - $38- 42k...

    How's the Heat

Not so bad on the Gold Coast at 30 odd degrees and humid but its been constant at that for weeks. However some weeks ago returning from a ride one very hot afternoon on the M1 I noticed the Spyders ambient air temp said 45 deg C. Once I got off the highway it dropped top 35.:chill:

WANTED..Tips for Better riding on a spyder

The best tip I was given (on a forum) was "think skiiing" - I dont ski BUT - in a right hand turn pull the right grip towards you (one person said "try to kiss the grip"), push down with the left foot to move your body to the right, lean into the turn and push into the Spyder with your right...

WANTED..Tips for Better riding on a spyder

Most roads are 100 or 110kmph. It varies from state to state . The Northern Territory has some unlimited roads I believe but they are far from "autobahns" , just single lane, and you are likely to come across cattle (or water buffalo) on the road

WANTED..Tips for Better riding on a spyder

Australian Spyders come with all 4 lights (maybe thats why we pay $27k?). The ones in the position that you call foglights are the main beam headlights. The other two are then highbeam. I think the Euro models are similar.

    Bad Key

Had the same problem after my last service. Went to the service counter and they gave me the key. Already had my spare so rode home and later found the key they gave me would not work. Simple solution - went back to the dealer and swapped the key they gave me for MY key.

    windshields

I had CHAD too and went to the Madstad Robobrackets system. Looks better (IMHO) , better quality, much cheaper and most importantly works soooo much better. :2thumbs: See http://www.robobrackets.com This system is almost infinitely variable - way more so than CHAD. About half the price of CHAD...

    RT handle bar console

And don't forget to factor in changing all the cables and wires as I cannot see any way they will reach to the RT bars. I expect you would have to have them custom made. They are at their limit with the 4" NMN risers.

    Ultra touring windshield-BRP 09 Spyder

I would strongly recommend the Madstad windscreen system. In my opinion we are all different sizes and have different riding positions so for a windscreen to be "all things to all people" it really needs to be completely adjustable in angle and height. As Mark says on his web site-...

    Screen Repair

I thought the BRP screens were polycarbonate which would not crack as easily as acrylic but perhaps they are not. :dontknow: I would go to a specialty plastics fabricator and see what they recommend. If you cannot find anyone local perhaps look at this special plastics glue...

    Need a Bigger Shield!

I had CHAD and it was good but the Madstad system was sooo much better. :2thumbs: Looks better IMHO and was way cheaper. Much more adjustment which is the key as we are all different heights and sit in different positions.

Update number 2 on overheating RT in Aus

I rode up to Springwood Suzuki in some fairly warm weather and the Spyder was running very rough by the time I got there, especially between 3 and 4 k RPM. I was not happy at all. The mechanic said he thought only Spyders with a pipe were suffering - I said I understood stock ones like mine were...
