• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Clutch Cable Routing

My wife is just a little taller than yours...5'0". Two more mods she might like: 1. Do a search to see how some have lowered the brake pedal. The altered position is a vast improvement for my wife. 2. The BRP kit for the clutch assist substantially lowers...

    Battery Tender help needed

I also went the route of drilling a small hole through the frunk liner. If you cut the tender wires (re-splice them later), you can get by with drilling a much smaller hole. The tender is now very accessible.

    non-optimized frunk volume

I had the grill off today while doing the clutch-assist mod. I was amazed at how much open space exists around the frunk compartment. I'd estimate that the volume could be increased by 50%. I'm sure some of that open space was left for radiator air flow, but I think a lot more of it could have...

Ordered the Clutch assist kit from BRP

I did the mod today. Here's the good and the bad: My wife is very pleased with the new, lower effort clutch! (that made all the frustrations worth it......) For about $170 you get what looks like about $50 worth of parts. I followed the instructions printed by my dealer (they need to be in...

Ordered the Clutch assist kit from BRP

The parts include some hoses, clamps, a valve and a solenoid. It looks like it will add a vacuum assist to the clutch lever. I might do the install today.

Ordered the Clutch assist kit from BRP

Just ordered all the parts today. (About $170). I'll post my impressions after the install.

    2 belt tension questions:

Thanks for the responses, but no one has answered either of my 2 questions!.........cold vs warm and increase vs decrease tension.

Any updates on improved Madstad bracket?

My wife's Madstad shakes annoyingly when it's in a higher position. Clearly, Madstad thinks there is an issue since they have engineered a new bracket to address this concern. I applaud their attitude as most companies would simply deny there is an issue at all.

    2 belt tension questions:

Before I purchase the SmoothSpyder for my wife's F3, I have two questions: 1. I'm going to take it into the dealer to have the belt tension verified to be in range. I've read that increasing or decreasing the tension (still in range) will change the mph at which the vibes occur. To RAISE the...

Any updates on improved Madstad bracket?

If you post a pic, we might be able to see if you have a different bracket than the older ones.

Any updates on improved Madstad bracket?

Quite a while ago we heard that a new bracket would be available to reduce shield vibration. At one point it was a week way.......and that was a long time ago.

normal mode sluggish eco mode more power

I agree........I thought we decided that eco mode was merely a shift indicator and had nothing to do with ECU fuel maps or timing. It doesn't affect the operation or economy of the engine at all.

I'm not even sure what you are saying...........

    ROADSTER Clutch Assist Installation (SM6 F3 Models) - 122791

Just called my dealer with the bulletin number. He told me about $220 labor and $175 in parts. I'll wait to hear how difficult the install is before I decide whether or not to do it myself. I'm also curious as to how much of a change it offers.

    High RPM at start up

I cringe every time I hear my wife's F3 start. I want rpm on a STONE COLD engine to be as low as possible. Critical components aren't yet lubed and oil pressure (thicker oil) is very high. Internal tolerances have not yet stabilized, either.

Interesting performance comparo between F3 and Indian

The car is unbelievable.......0-60 in < 3 seconds and 0-130 in just over 10 seconds! Cruising near the speed limits I'll get almost 30 mpg. I've had over 100 cars and this is like no other (including Turbo 911)

    One more time Vibration experiment

I took your advice and did a search. After doing lots of reading, I stand by my opinion. There are opinions on both sides of the question, but after evaluating the sources, I still feel free-revving isn't a good practice. I'm not here to hijack your thread, and as it's a moot point since it...

    One more time Vibration experiment

Free-revving an engine, without a load, is one of the most destructive things you can do to your engine!! Engine builders will tell you this and so do many owner's manuals. Many modern engines actually have limiters via the ECU so that one cannot rev in neutral or park. 6000 rpm under...

    Unfit factory setting?

If you buy the OEM rod, you're brake pedal will sit high (too high according to many of us) Do a search on this forum to buy the adjustable linkage or do the mod to lower the pedal as you also move it. I did that mod months ago and my 5"0" tall wife loved it.

    One more time Vibration experiment

Certain engine configurations inherently vibrate more than others.....even when carefully balanced. I don't have all the facts in front of me, but I do recall that inline sixes are among the smoothest. Obviously, singles and V-twins are among the worst. There are primary and secondary balances...
