• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Going to a car tire

With the many documented failures of rear tires on these large motorcycles, I believe I am using the least dangerous setup for a gl1800. The only change in handling is a distinct increase in traction at the rear. This does mean that the in slippery conditions the front will tend to push first as...

    Going to a car tire

I can almost understand why on a car this is true since ideally their handling is designd to be neutral in that both ends lose traction equally, and are therefore neutral in handling. Cars are regularly driven in a controlled skid. On a motorcycle there is no advantage since if either side...

    Going to a car tire

Why is that? On my GL1800, I run a michelin Primacy Alpin run flat winter tire on the back, and a Bridgestone G709 on the front and feel it is one of the best set ups for traction and safety. There are many that run differeent brands, and even types of tires from front to rear with no issues...

    Tires....a.g.a.i.n

This is the first I have heard of this in any state. Could you please send me where that is stated by regulation or law. Though I am not a spyder owner, I am very interested in the use of CT on Motorcycles. Thanks

    Weight limits

I have a related question as we always ride two up and are both gravitationaly enhanced. We have sat on both an RT and ST and it seemed in pure front to back passenger room that the ST was bigger. The ST did not have the passenger back rest, and I have heard that the passenger back rest does...

Where can I rent a Spyder near Gatlinburg TN?

I have looked on the web for a rental place close to Gatlinburg, but have been unable to find one. Does anyone know of a rental company in this area? (+/- 100 miles)I am looking at renting a cabin for a weekend and trying out a Spyder at the same time. Thanks

How many miles do you ride?

I appreciate the responses as is typical on boards like this most are quiet unless there is a complaint. I started to be concerned that 10k per year was not practical, but the posts show this is normal for many. Thanks for the posts and keep them coming.

    Tire Wear

How does aggressive riding effect tire mileage on the :ani29:? I get 8-10 thousand miles out of a set of tires on my wing. There are many that get over twice as many miles on the same setup. Would the same 2 to1 ratio apply, or because of the 3 wheels and traction control etc., is the tire...

How many miles do you ride?

I have been reading a number of posts, and have some concern about longevity, and maintenance costs. I am currently on a wing, and though I do not expect the same reliability, I want to be riding as much as I can. on a typical Saturday (about the only time we can ride because of work etc) we...

    BRP got it made

There is a relatively cheap and much more accurate way of determining heat comparisons. For $25.99 on sale Harbor Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/ sells an infrared thermometer that measures the heat of watever you point it at. Do the ride then take readings at the same point on both bikes...

2 wheel GL1800 Goldwing vs Spyder fun factor question?

Not entirely correct. the only time I sign in is to comment, Otherwise I enter as a visitor. I have not seen other postings I feel I should comment on since I have no experiece with the spyder and unlike many (as this post is a perfect example) prefer not to post unless I have something relavant...

2 wheel GL1800 Goldwing vs Spyder fun factor question?

I generally agree with what you said except on two accounts Car tire much better traction than MC Here is where I am the one more experienced since I have used both. Second is I am much less skilled, but ride more "socially acceptable" than the other.

2 wheel GL1800 Goldwing vs Spyder fun factor question?

I posted it because it became apparent from their responses that people on this board were not familiar with the capabilities of a wing. Regardless of what you think of the rider's style or actions, it does show what a wing is possible of. If you want to see me riding I posted a small portion...

2 wheel GL1800 Goldwing vs Spyder fun factor question?

Do you believe that I was in that group riding? if so then your riding skills are definitely better than your reading comprehension skills otherwise you would crash before you got out of the driveway. I really wish I had been there because I know that I could ride my own ride and still have a...

2 wheel GL1800 Goldwing vs Spyder fun factor question?

Thanks for a good observation. My question has never been about what is faster, only how a wing and :f_spider:compare. I fully understand that their are many bikes out there that in the hands of equal riders are much faster. I only wanted to know if I would be giving any fun up moving to a...

2 wheel GL1800 Goldwing vs Spyder fun factor question?

Thanks for the feedback I appreciate positive posts with good information. However one thing to keep in mind is that comparing the capabilities of a wing with Harleys and Victorys is like comparing a Coupe Deville with a Lexus. They are built with two different people in mind, but each do what...
