• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Time for a belt idler?

OK, so lets try to answer No other changes. As mentioned above, the belt tension has been checked to OEM specs. I know from reading and talking to others that this "harmonic" has raised its head before or there wouldn't be aftermarket devices to correct it.

    Time for a belt idler?

Though the engine does indeed run as smooth as silk at 5K or above, there are 2 factors in play here. 1 in 24K miles, I have not had the vibration before. 2 that RPM range is where 55 mph sits. A not uncommon cruising speed in the midwest. PS, sorry for not getting back on line sooner.

    Time for a belt idler?

A question to confirm what I am already thinking. Since my last rear tire change, I have picked up a vibration in the 2 highest gears (4th and 5th) between about 4200 and 4400 rpms. Smooth above and below or under hard acceleration. I have had the tension checked on the drive belt and the...

    Advise re; tire wear

Can't agree there. I was out there tugging with them. It is just to narrow. But that 615 fit just fine.

    Advise re; tire wear

Didn't exactly go as planned I ordered and received a Altimax 605/60R15 and guess what. It was just narrow enough, we couldn't get it to seat on the rim. So down to Discount Tire we went and got a Yokohama 615/60R15 and it fits the rim just fine. It JUST fits in under the fender. It will be...

    Advise re; tire wear

If you are asking me........... I am getting the general off of Ebay for $68.99 frt. free. As an RV'er I am well aware of the tire age concerns. Just have to hope these aren't left overs with too much age on them. Time wise, this last rear lasted me about a little less than 2 years. I think...

    Advise re; tire wear

Back to the task. Finally getting back to the tire issue. Rear is getting pretty bald in the center. I ordered the General Altimax in 205/60 on Ebay today and have found a small bike shop that does work on Spyders so when the tire comes in I will be good to go. Based on your general...

    Advise re; tire wear

Just to clarify.......... I see some of you running 205/60's and some 215/60's, The stock on mine is 225/50. Is it just brands that designate the 205-215 difference, or is there a difference in performance?

    Advise re; tire wear

OK, and the next question... Thanks for the feedback. Now, if I remember, last year there were several posts about tires and it seems that many of the dealers wouldn't mount anything but the OEM tire. And if I also remember, there were reports that Discount Tire would not sell the...

    Advise re; tire wear

I have 22,3xx miles on my '13 STL and still have the original front tires. They are getting ready to be replaced and the wear pattern has looked even and good for their entire life. I run the pressure at 17 PSI. I have a little over 12,000 miles on the rear and it seems to be wearing the...

    Garmin map update

Hope it is better than the last update. My'13 ST LTD came with the Zumo 660 that has functioned OK. As good as any I guess. I paid for the lifetime updates and have updated it once to update the data base hopefully but was very disappointed. The same errors were there as before. The lists...

when are the 2017 new models being released?

That issue of the leftovers............ I was in a dealer in Boise ID today and they had 1, '15 leftover F3 and 2, 15, leftover RTs on the floor. And they only had a total of 6 Spyders total on the floor. Is this common among dealers? Are they having that much leftover inventory? Is this...

    Thoughts on my test ride

To add my 2 cents............. I came off 31 years of wings. Everything that you have heard so far is completely true. Especially the part about learning to relax on the handlebars. I just came from a winter in Phoenix and I had no trouble running down the freeway at 75+ with the big boys...

    Tri-Axis Handlebars DO work.

Have to show my ignorance here. What is different about them? Looking at the first picture I don't notice much difference. Are they adjusted back toward the rider more? I am only5'8" and fit the ST fairly comfortably (I think). Please fill in the gaps.

    998 oil consumption

I tend to run the oil a little low on the stick. In all engines I have ever had, car or bike, this seems to work better. But this time the level was completely off the stick at the end of the ryde. I guess I can live with that. I am not one who tends to have to fix the factory incompetence...

    998 oil consumption

First let me say that I don't think I have any thing wrong with my ST. But I have noticed that when I ride the bike at 70+ for very long, I seem to use oil. Example; Saturday I took a ride with a group of which about 200 of the 300 total miles were at around 75 MPH (5200+ RPM). When I got...

Great deal on a 2013 ST Limited?

I also have a '13 STL SE5 I bought it brand new in '13. Never the smartest move to buy the first year new model, but I did. It had some warts. Simple things that I have had fixed at the factory expense, AND I LOVE IT. Once I got used to it, it handles like a dream and I like the 998 engine...

    boots

Not sure if the brand still exists My wife and I both have a pair of Oxtar boots about 10 year old and wouldn't trade them for anything. They have become our favorite riding and hiking boots.

If the email from threewheels fails for some reason, I have one for the 660 I would be glad to forward.

The cursed 'stuck on' brake light problem.

Does seem kind of goofy Yeah that brake light switch wired direct seems kind of strange to me also. If it is "law" then another example of do-gooder bureaucrats using their "logic" rather than their brains. It is pretty easy to diagnose. The cruise control is also disabled when the brake...
