• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Strange capture on google maps

It looks like they have been jumping into the water from the dock repeatedly, and their path from the water back to the front of the dock is clearly wet. It is wetter where they are standing due to the time spent in one spot pending their next jump into the water.

A short ride turned into 301 miles...

The wife and I set out this morning at 10:00am to go for a ride. We rolled back in the driveway at 6:20pm. We ended up taking a long, leisurely ride starting in our home town of Centreville, Alabama... we rode 65 miles to Rockford, AL to see the grave of "Fred, the Town Dog". Poor Fred, that...

    Our little Spyder adventure...

We are very casual geocachers. We don't like to traipse off into the woods looking for them, but we will go after the ones that are relatively easy to find. I don't walk very well so searching for the caches that are in rough terrain is a no-go for me. We also like to look for Munzees, which...

    Our little Spyder adventure...

The wife and I have ridden scooters since 2008 and now we have our Spyder. We still have 1 scooter, they're just too much fun to not have one. Anyway, each year we try to do some sort of riding adventure and for 2013, we are touring our state on a scavenger hunt of sorts. We're out to visit a...

Do You Carry a Gun When You Ride

Open carry is legal in Alabama... and absolutely no one tailgates you when you have a Ruger Mini 14 slung across your back (I only do this when headed to the range). As for carrying a pistol while riding... no comment. On a side note, if you mount a holster on your Spyder, it really discourages...

Added a 12v outlet to the dash...

I use an old Droid X smart phone that is not activated for use as my GPS. I needed a turn-by-turn GPS that didn't not rely on cell service to function, so I downloaded the NavFree USA app from Google Play. I also use the MapWithMe app when I just want a map and not turn-by-turn directions...

32000.00 will get you nothing! Still no bike! UPDATED MAR 24

I don't know your story, but I can say, it is my opinion, that part of your problem is dealing with Big Number 1. Try Motorsports Superstore in Hamilton, AL. I am in Centreville and I take my bike to Hamilton for service.

Going to BRP Owner's event in Maggie Valley - some questions

Whatever is comfortable for you is what matters. Some folks may ride straight through, some may stop for a night or two. If you have the time, I would suggest taking a slow ride and enjoy the trip as well as the destination.

full face vs half vs beenie helmet

I wear a modular full-faced helmet because if I crash, I want my helmet scrubbing on the pavement, not my face.

My speedometer is 2 MPH optimistic...

I always check my speedometers against 2 different GPS units to see how accurate they are. My 2012 Kymco Like 200i scooter is dead on at every speed, but the Spyder is 2 MPH optimistic. Not bad, but it is good info to know. So I can be doing 60 MPH in a 55 MPH zone and I feel like I am...

That's pricey for a single flag pole and mount. I'll stick with my $49 double pole license plate mount.

    GPS and bluetooth

I also wanted a GPS to use with my Sena SMH10 set but was not about to fork over the huge sums to have a Zumo 660. I looked at the Garmin 765T and strongly considered it but I found a better solution, for me anyway. I had an old Droid X smart phone in a drawer. I bought a new battery for it and...
