• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Full circle Spyder owner

Peter, is your 2013 the first year of the previous generation (2013-2019) RT, or the last year of the first generation of RT?

    V-twin semi-auto vs. triple semi-auto

Thanks for the replies so far. Is the SE5 the same transmission as the SE6, except +1 gear? I thought I read somewhere that the SE5 was more prone to wear because it uses more hydraulics and the SE6 uses electronics?

    V-twin semi-auto vs. triple semi-auto

I have a V-twin STS with the manual. Next year, I will be selling it and replacing it with an RT with a semi-auto, so I can ride with my wife. The plan is to get a 2014+ with a triple and SE6. However... ...there is a nice 2013 RTL twin with 7000 miles on it, with the SE5 tranny available...

    My new 2014 Spyder ST-Ltd

Congrats - did you happen to buy this on FB Marketplace in upstate NY? I saw one like yours that recently sold in the Rochester area. I have a '16 Wing and an STS with the twin. Yes - big difference between how they cruise, and where all of the power is. Over time, I suspect you will get...

How to tell when it is time to replace your battery

On my first bike, a 1982 Suzuki 650, I had a weak battery. However, it would crank and crank and crank the motor over at the same rate. Yet it did not start...though it almost did in the split second after I let off the starter button, and a few times it did start. With some help from a...

First ride of year and a couple of thoughts on the future

150 miles on the STS SM5 today. Last ride was December 11. Fired right up after coming off the tender last week. Aired up the tires, and off I went. Had the tunes playing through my Cardo and had no planned destination. Turned when I felt like it, kept going straight if that was I wanted...

12v plug installation on '15 STS?

Thank you, this was very helpful. I searched the BRP instructions website and was unable to find what you found. I wonder if I remove the battery cover and pull the battery out into the frunk, if that will give me the space to do the installation...

12v plug installation on '15 STS?

Hi there. I have a BRP 12v receptacle, given to me uninstalled by the previous owner. There is a plug on the back side of the frunk, looks like plug-n-play for this accessory. The receptacle has a threaded shank. How do I install this?

Mirror removal on 2013 ST limited

Two years later, this post is still helpful...I broke my RH mirror off, same as above. I could not figure out how to snap the bottom two prongs into place. This thread and some silicone lube sealed the deal! Thanks!!

    How to sell a Spyder?

Whatever you decide, in my opinion, it is only fair to let the prospective buyer to know the rules before they drive out to see it.

Should my Frunk lid pop up when released?

Very important to keep that latch lubricated. Mine was very stiff when latching or unlatching prior to spraying some silicone lube on the latch.

    2020+ vs 2019 and older...

So, I will eventually be replacing my 2015 STS (with the charismatic V-twin, which will be missed) with a used RT 1330 SE6 of some sort. I sat on both at a dealer (a 19 and 20) and the 19 fits me better. It is unusual for me to sit on a bike and have it feel like they built it for me. When I...

How Many Miles Did You Go in 2020?

~6,500 on Gold Wing ~4,800 on Spyder ...so...a little over 11,000, which is my first 10,000+ mile season. We had snow on the ground as late as May 9, so being a short season made this even more impressive. I own a cabin in northern NY, so I have multiple nice routes to take to get there, and...

Do all 2015 RT SE's have 1330 motors?

Based on what I see here (upstate NY/Rochester), that is a good price for a '15 with 20k. There's a red one for sale at a dealer that has 48k with 4 months of warranty left for $14k (been for sale for awhile). I know you would prefer to buy in-state, but if you want to consider other states...

What is the best first upgrade to SPYDER or RYKER?

I have only done one upgrade - a Cal Sci windshield - it was a significant upgrade from stock.

Do all 2015 RT SE's have 1330 motors?

Next question ... do you want a six speed manual or six speed semi-automatic on your '15 RT?

I wish BRP would do something like this

I was gonna mention this if you did not. There are a few people there saying "don't worry, BRP will fix it" ... I kindly remind them that its been on the Spyders for 3.5 years and it ain't any better than it was. It is funny to see BRP-C hate occurring simultaneously on two different forums...

2021 Road Trips, who's going where?

I have been putting some proposed trip ideas in my To Do app on my phone so I don't forget. One in there is to stay a couple of nights in Cooperstown or Oneonta, NY and explore the Catskills. I haven't really spent much time in that part of the state, ever. My NY road atlas shows lots of...

    Finally bailing!!

Ok, glad to see I am not the only one. I was born and raised in upstate NY (Rochester), and still live here. Love it. I find beauty in the 80 degree, sunny summer days as well as the 20 degree cloudy snow days, and the range in between. It is December 21, and I walked nearly 8 miles...

    December Ride in NW Iowa

Hit the low 50s today near Rochester in upstate NY, rode the Spyder home from the dealer after an oil change ... then rode the Wing to work and back! That's probably it for the year ... over 11,000 miles, by far the most I have ever logged.
