• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Initial Maintenance and Work

Had a good day with the Spyder. Sonya and I went for a 400 Km round trip ride up island to a place called Goats on the Roof. A bit of a tourist trap, but it is widely known at home and abroad: https://oldcountrymarket.com/ Good marketing strategy. Good weather, clear skies, warm - but not...

    Initial Maintenance and Work

More research into the alignment procedure for my Spyder. Have read the procedure in the OEM service manual. There are some procedural issues/items I would not be doing, but the majority of the alignment procedure can be done in the garage. First would be to buy a small magnetic laser level...

    Initial Maintenance and Work

Have been looking at the front suspension of my Spyder. There is no preload adjustment so not a lot of information available to digest. These shocks would fall into the category of replace and not worry about front end height. Will be looking for a hard point that I can use to setup the front...

Elka shocks - how's the ride with Stage 2 shocks?

I agree with spyder01 - I have the BajaRon sway bar, but would like one that was one size heavier. As for the shocks, lots of discussion regarding application and what the generic result of the install was. Most people will install better shocks, with or without different adjustments, have the...

    Initial Maintenance and Work

Shocks have not arrived on this side of the border, expect the M2 shocks to be here Tuesday/Wednesday - holiday in the US. Out for a ride with Sonya this afternoon, good ride but looking forward to riding with the new shocks. Have been compiling a binder regarding Spyder suspension, lots of...

    HowTo: Wiring aftermarket horns

UtahPete - Having the horn wired so that you press the horn button to activate is a good idea. What you can do is use the horn circuit to activate the relay that provides power to the new upgraded horn - this is a low power circuit. You would take the wire at the OEM horn that is from the horn...

    Steering issue Found and Corrected

Had a similar issue with my new to me 2014 RT LE ( 3 months owning). Doing coolant and brake flush, gave the BajaRon sway bar a yank and it moved in situ. Knowing this was not supposed to happen, checked a friends 2018 F3 Limited sway bar, it was secure and did not move. Checked the install...

    Suspension

M2 shocks should be here this week for install. Still searching for information on suspension setup and have found some older threads with good information. From 2014 - 2010 RT-S shock upgrade...

    Elka shock explanation

Have talked to Elka about shocks for my 2014 RT LE. Only stage 2 available for this model.

    Initial Maintenance and Work

Short update on the Spyder maintenance front. Shocks have been shipped and should be here Thursday/Friday. Looking forward to the install. Have been contemplating the alignment issue. It's not so much alignment as it is the handlebar position being off. Not a lot of adjustment on the front...

Belt Dampener: BRP/Lamonster or Spyder Extras billet

It's all about peace of mind. If you question the maintenance, do it before you go on your trip, not after. Nothing worse than being half way through the trip and having a maintenance issue you considered bite you in the arse, and saying damn should have done that. If you have a significant...

What's the best Can Am Spyder lift?

I tried the motorcycle/ATV lift and did get my Spyder off the ground. Took some adjustment to get the balance correct. Have a motorcycle table lift for my two wheelers. Bought the Big Blue Lift some 4 years ago for the Goldwing(s), but never used it much. Was going to sell it, but viewed a...

Baja Ron’s sway bar - what do YOU think of yours?

I had an interesting issue regarding the BajaRon sway bar. My 2014 RT LE came with BajaRon sway bar installed by the dealer when purchased by the PO. I thought and convinced myself that my Spyder felt better in the corners than the 2020 RT I test rode that had the OEM sway bar installed...

Baja Ron’s sway bar - what do YOU think of yours?

Agree with this. Shocks and sway bars are used for different purposes. The sway bar is not in play on the straight, or sweeping curves unless the Spyder starts to lean, and/or has frame twist and torque. Shocks are used in this scenario in that the shocks give the ride quality and ride height...

    Initial Maintenance and Work

Spyder is getting a rest from maintenance - main ride for the next couple of weeks. The 1200 is being sidelined mainly because of space as I have some work to do on the V-Strom to get it ready for market - another story for another beer. Ordered and received a full cover for the Spyder from...

    Initial Maintenance and Work

More thoughts on personalizing the Spyder. Have to provide the Mrs with a heated gear connection for the cooler weather. Have used flush mount SAE connectors. I will use the one for the pillion rider for the battery tender as well. Nice neat install. Have to run wires up to the battery...

    Another touring thread.

Touring is great. Good luck on your trip. In a car, a person can average 50 MPH - 300 miles approximately 6 hours. On a motorcycle, more stops and for longer generally, add 3 hours to this estimate so a 6 hour day is approximately 9 hours. Just works out that way. This is unless you are...

    Initial Maintenance and Work

Read a lot of horror stories and not very good reviews on the Kenda tires. Tell us how you really feel. Perspective is everything. Don't need tires at this point, but may before next years cross Canada tour. The original tires are still on the Spyder, no sidewall cracking or such. Will use...
