• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Front sprocket removal tips.

Hi, There are a couple videos on YouTube about how to remove the rear tire by jacking up on the bottom of the shock, just until you can slide the bolt out. If you have an air bag, you MUST remove the little arm on the left side or you will be at the dealer for a calibration. I think Bob White...

Check Engine Light Bad O2 sensor need help

If you get a service manual for about $20 off of EBay, it tells you how to test the coil pack. Otherwise, they are cheap (like $30) on cheapcycleparts.com. I just replaced a coil pack on my 2008GS. I also found on a friends bike the plug was cracked somehow. One cylinder dead. Be sure to use...

    ACS is reading MANUAL

Did you recently have a tire replaced? This "Manual" will pop up if the sensor on the left side of the A-Frame is not connected or broken. Look on left side of tire to the frame, follow the top of the frame up about 12" you should see a plastic arm bolted to it going up to a sensor. I forgot...

From "Analog" to "Digital" at no cost to you.

I also put in USB one one side & Battery voltage ($16 on EBay) monitor. Side note - those of us that use Magic Mirrors with the strong magnets, I have heard they mess with the analog gauges. This is a great (and easy) way to get power up front, since the battery is close, and easy to snake the...

    2015 RT-S HOT seat???

The scoop kit is only about $60. I think I got mine from cheapcycleparts.com. It does require you to drill 3 holes - I was terrified! My brand new 2016 RT (at the time) and I'm drilling holes in it! The glovebox temp and general - um - groin area - cooled down a lot. One nice thing is this...

    Sunoco Optima Fuel

If I'm near a marina I'll fill with non-ethanol as much as possible. I also run 87/89. The Ethanol additive is also a nice thing if bike is not going to be ridden for a while. I have two 2008 GS's with over 30K miles on each, and doing a plug change I inspected the injector boots and down in...

Hard starting when hot & odd noises... Fuel pump???

Vapor lock would do it. Have you done the cannisterectoy? I'd recommend it. My 2013 STSLTD was slow to start on long rides also. I watched a video (Finless Bob?) about doing the bypass. ALso at the same time I put in BajaRons plug & wire set. Started & ran like a scalded dog after that...

    SpyderExtras Sway Bar Review

Since we ride 2-up a lot, and not small people, we have been wanting a sway bar. We saw BajaRons and one from Spyder Extras. Having some time to putter at home now, but little cash incoming I ordered the Spyder Extras, since it was like $80 cheaper. Getting the old sway bar out went well...

    998cc 2012 RT limited

That wire under the seat connected inside the cutout area is to detect a passenger, so the computer can adjust the system. You would see a large diameter pair of wires for a heater.

P0351 error and Check Engine Light on - any help/advice?

I don't recall the pinout, but one winding should be about 1 - 2ohms (12V side). The second would be a couple K for the high voltage. I'd grab a PDF of the shop manual for $20. Actually the coil is really cheap on cheapcycleparts.com, I replaced mine. Only to find out later it was a cracked...

    Rear wheel removal

Finless Bob made a great video there indeed! I also referenced it to pull tire. However it does help if you RECONNECT the stupid rod! Derp! I did find out it goes into manual pump mode without it. So did learn something!

2011 RS SE5 not want to go into reverse or downshift

This is absolutely correct! I thought my paddle shifter switches were bad and spent $$ for a new assembly. Took apart the old one and they are hermetically sealed. You can operate them under water. I could hear a click when moving the paddle, but wasn't sure. I wasted my money (in my case)...

    Purchasing a 2008 GS SE5

Search "tires" on this site - you will find TONS of suggestions. Most (like me) run Kenda on the rear (same size). I looked up the front tire size on Amazon and got the cheap Amazon Choice - they are still fine. Some discussion on handling in rain, but I haven't found any real difference (with...

    Purchasing a 2008 GS SE5

Check the pulley for red dust - should be glossy black. Pulleys go bad, better to find it early. Once they start they go quick. Be sure it has the BRP grounding wire on the coil pack to the frame. Reduced noise on CanBus communications that can cause bike to stop shifting or get stuck in gear...

2020 RT series are cool, but who's keeping their old Spyder

Only because I can't even afford to pay attention these days :) Love the 2020, maybe someday.

    Extra Bolts and washers

The bolts (99% of them) are 6mm x 20mm. I ordered a bag of 50 on McMaster Carr. For the washers, I found black steel 1/4" / 6mm washers in another bag of 50. I like the stainless steel look anyways - swapped all black bolts out on last oil change...

    Alternate oil filter

Great deals out there! I do like to buy 2 packs (or more now!) and good oil in bulk on sale. I'm a crazy person that changes oil on new RT (well new in 2016) very often, these toys are pricey!

Can I check software version without BUDS?

I have a 2008GS, and am wondering if it has the latest firmware in the ECM/TCM/etc. Any way to check on the cluster? Thanks! Steve

    taking airbox off on RS

Are you talking about the 6 Torx screws you have to take out in the bottom half, connected to the inectors? I've done this job a few times it is NOT easy to get that stupid thing out. First time I used a set of torx wrenches that fold up, if you know what I'm talking about. Took forever at 1/2...

Confused about Baja Ron Swaybar install procedure

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw5atKHlmp4 Excellent step by step video on front end removal in real time. 20 minutes going at a slow pace. Add to that bumpskid, which should be easy with a cordless screwdriver with a torx 30 bit. He does call out it doesn't add a lot to swaybar install, but...
