• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    What is the SPYDER History?

Back in October of 2005 when we were doing focus group sessions in Lake Tahoe the internal name for the project was already "spyder". We had lengthy discussions as to what the brand name should be, what the vehicle should be classified as, what the actual vehicle name should be. As in Ski-Doo MX...

    This is kind of depressing

Finless, I can feel your pain. Oh man that is depressing. I don't know if I could handle that. On my 2008s I had an average of just a whisker under 60 MPH for over 66,000 miles. That would be riding zero 4-lane roads, but out here in west central Minnesota we have wide open roads and little...

Front Tire Hop at 58 mph

Sounds pretty typical of the cheap Kenda OEM tires. We see this quite often, tire doesn't balance well, put on new tire and works like a charm. Back when I had both of my 2008s I had two extra sets of six spoke wheels for a total of four sets of wheels. One of my Spyders was way smoother than...

    is it the nanny?

You are most likely just finding the calibration limits of the stability control system. That said, I have found the nanny to be more sensitive on some units than others. Even my two identical 2008s were slightly different, so there indeed is something to be said for sensitivity differences. One...

    Happy Spyder Owner...it's the truth

Considering how much complaining we all had to endure, it is mighty proper to now hear the resolution(s) and how it has all worked out. You should be complimented for coming forward to tell us that things are now finally "right". Thank you.

    2015 lineup rumors?

For the sake of conversation and speculation - They will build what they are capable of building, and selling, at a profit. To that end, what are people asking for and how much are they willing to spend to get it? Can they build and would they sell........ more RTs in different colors and...

    2015 lineup rumors?

Hybrid Spyder This was the press release from December 20, 2010 on the Hybrid Spyder....the text was copied from a PDF so the formatting is goofy. If they invested 11.3 million into it, it is far more than an april fool's joke. Had both an electric motor and an ACE 600 in there. Major...

    2015 lineup rumors?

Look at it this way. With a brand new RT series for 2014, this is NOT going to be where we need huge new model introductions. More features and new colors are most logical here. The ST series was just introduced last year, so it is already "new" to most of us. Maybe a triple ACE engine for the...

    bottoming out

Me too I've been fighting the same thing. I believe there is not as much belly clearance on my 2013 ST-S as what I have on my 2008 GS, BUT.....the GS has adjustable preload on the front shocks, and I have them cranked to full to get the a-arms level. On the 2013 ST-S I have a BajaRon sway bar...

Polaris has begun the advertising for the slingshot

There was something on this vehicle a while back in SnowTech Magazine (snowmobile technology). It makes sense for Polaris to do something different like this. Where the Spyder was BRP's entry into the street-legal market with a safer motorcycle, Polaris already has street-legal bikes so for them...

    Going to a car tire

We have also been told by BRP techs that they got a bad batch of tires. I have burned through many tires in my 75,000 miles on three spyders, a few of the OEM Kenda, some of the Kumhos, a couple of the Maxxis Vectras, and am now using the Toyo Proxes, which is also discontinued like the Kumho...

    Yellowstone / Beartooth / Tetons +++++!!!!

That is so FREAKIN" cool! WOW, that is so freaking cool! Thank you for sharing your story, thank you for sharing the AWESOME photos. I mean, KLIM gear and snow goggles, you are my kind of rider. I have been on so many of those roads over the years, but never on Spyder (yet) it was really fun...

good place to stay in west Yellowstone?

Oh you are going to have fun. The road that goes up into the Bighorns from Sheridan to Burgess Junction is going to be AWESOME, one of the scariest in a truck and sled trailer that I have ever driven. Have fun and enjoy!!!!!

good place to stay in west Yellowstone?

If at all possible, on the Beartooth Highway between Cooke City and Red Lodge is the north end of the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway. These are two roads you might want to take while out there.

good place to stay in west Yellowstone?

I've stayed in West Yellowstone every single year since 1974 for at least a week (snowmobiling), and have stayed at many of the properties in town. One of your bigger issues is going to be availability, as you have found the rates are WAY higher in the summer than they are in the winter when we...

    Front Tire Left The Ground

Exactly like riding a snowmobile! In fact, if we do NOT lean into the corner on a sled, the inside ski will almost always lift up, so on a Spyder it is VERY intuitive, at least for those of us up north (and those coming from ATVs) to be leaning towards that inside front wheel. You have...

    Front Tire Left The Ground

Yes you can! if you are at a stop sign and are turning left or right, and then accelerate rather quickly as you pull out and turn then yes, you can pretty much lift the inside front wheel up off the ground at will. This is why it was so important for the Spyder to be fitted with VSS! It...

Gloves i what a new pair so what are you wearing

Klim Gloves There are so many good ones to choose from, it all depends on the conditions. Being a snowmobiler I am partial to Klim, since it is the best we can get for the snow, but they also have a killer line of bike gear as well. It is pretty much the only thing we wear on snow or dirt...

Your opinion on ABS on trikes - good / bad

ABS is good I can testify that we want ABS on our Spyders. Back (in 2001) when we were riding the original prototypes that were Ski-Doo REV snowmobiles with wheels instead of skis and a swing arm instead of a skid frame, the machines did not have ABS (or VSS) and we could do some crazy stuff...
