• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Wearing glasses with helmet

I have biked all of my life and have struggled with the glasses vs helmet question for more than 50 years. Generally put the glasses on after the helmet having to thread the arms/temples thru between head and helmet and then over the ear. A PITA each time. It may be a question of the style of...

    Park brake

This electric brake is too unreliable having failed twice on me in 2 years of ownership. The first time was at home and it wouldn't release. I removed and cleaned the switch contacts to make it work for a while. The second time it failed in the released position on the road and I had to put a...

What seats are best for touring?

I think it would help the discussion if the OP would let us know how tall he/she is and what build he/she is and if he/she rides solo or 2 up. This would allow people of similar characteristics and riding situation to help him/her out.

Seatbelts without a roll cage is looking for trouble. You don't want to be attached to a Spyder if it flips over.

    Front sprocket removal tips.

Well, what can go wrong will go wrong. I tried to remove the flywheel mounted to the sprocket and only 2 of the countersunk bolts let themselves be removed. The internal hex socket stripped out on the 4 others. So I decided to remove the sprocket with the flywheel in place and ran up against...

    Front sprocket removal tips.

Hi guys and gals. I want to remove the front sprocket along with the flywheel on my RT. Any tips on how to best do this? Do I really need to change the bolt or can I use Loctite after cleaning out the threads?

    Broken bolt extraction

It looks like the bolt is on the hydraulic shifter body(Hydraulic housing, part 25). I would put the filter cover back on with the one screw and get a suitable 6 mm bolt that just touches the broken part. Get the bolt drilled thru with a 3 mm drill and use it as a guide to start drilling out...

    Keeping rodents out

A point to ponder. The problem with poison is that the mice don't have the good sense to die on the spot and usually go someplace to die. Owls and other predators & scavengers have been known to die from eating poisoned rodents. Live owls are our friends killing lots of these pests. Dead...

    998cc Air Scoops Heat mgt

I installed them on my 2011 and did the cutout. I didn't ride enough after the install to find out if it helped for the heat. I would do the cutout on the V twin models as no company does an update/recall without good reason. It surely keeps the 1330 running cooler but the recall was for the...

    998cc Changing the shift shaft.

Just had a look at thread files on amazon. How are they applicable to splines? Needle files I get and got some. Stroke them along the axis of the shaft I understand and try to reconstruct/clear the valley of the spline. But thread files ??? Please help me out.

    998cc Changing the shift shaft.

There is one problem with doing this with a file. I can't see that kind of detail anymore. SOOO I have been designing a jig/holder to hold the Dremel and guide it along the tooth and completely remove the crooked ones. I'll show when I have a design I am satisfied with. I should to be able...

    998cc Changing the shift shaft.

Hey Snowbelt, I got a manual and I did checkout the thread you mention. I also PM'd him a couple of times and got no response. I'll have to check out the manual and see how far in I got to go. If I have to take off the clutch cover it becomes scary as there are plain bearings in it. I'll...
