• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

For Baja Ron: Evoluzione Sway Bar & Heim Links Question

My photos and Lamonts appear to be shot with different orientation and that may be causing some mis-impressions (or perhaps not). Mine are shot side to side. That is, the camera is pointing across the body of the machine. Thats the left front wheel you see in the second photo. Lamonts appear...

For Baja Ron: Evoluzione Sway Bar & Heim Links Question

Ron, some time ago you suggested that anyone with an Evoluzione sway bar (no longer made) check to see if the Heim links were in contact with the A-arm and expressed concern that Heim link damage might be possible. I have this bar on my 2010 RT and finally got around to checking as you...

Losing Air Pressure in my Rear Shock

    My first problem-cracked head pipe!

Thanks for the picture. That certainly is very different than what I experienced with my 2010. Chris, when you said "exactly the same thing" happened to your 2010 did you mean a cracked head pipe like Huddleston experienced or the break at the first weld typical of the 2010s? I don't mean to...

    2013 RTS LTD

If the system you describe works for you, great, keep using it. However, I routinely steer using both pushing and pulling at the same time and it works best for me. The main thing is to use a light touch for both the push and pull with soft hands on the grips. Using both reduces the force...

Losing Air Pressure in my Rear Shock

I've considered replacing the rear shock (I replaced the fronts only) on my 2010 RT with an aftermarket shock but never have, and have not in the past looked in detail at how the rear suspension is designed and works. Thus, I may have been under some mis-impressions these past two plus years...

    My first problem-cracked head pipe!

The pipe breaking at the first weld was fairly common in the 2010 Rts (mine broke completely in two) but I've only heard of one in the later years. Yours is obviously a different situation and the first of this type I've seen posted. A photo would be interesting. Your pipe certainly should be...

    Formosa covers for RT

When I bought the Formosa cover shortly after I bought my 2010 RT they did not make a cover specifically for the RT and I simply bought the largest one they made. I had not realized that Formosa now makes an RT specific cover. It looks good and is certainly an improvement in fit over my...

    Formosa covers for RT

Yes, I have a Formosa cover for my 2010 RT. It works well but of course does not cover both of the front wheels. Otherwise it fits nicely, although not as snugly as a cover designed specifically for the RT presumably would. At the very low price these cost it would be difficult to go very far...

What type and where do I get proper oil for RT when on the road?

Baja Ron wrote: <<There is an easy way to prove your point. Run 6,000 miles on your chosen oil and have it tested. We can then compare my recent test of Amsoil at that mileage (actually 6,400 miles). If your premise is correct, your oil should test out pretty much the same.>> Ron, I have been...

Cheap or No Cost Protection to keep From Losing Panels

On the ride home from the dealers after purchasing my 2010 RT, a trip of all of 4 miles, one of the panels flew off. It was damaged and replaced at no cost to me. After that I reinforced the panel attachments with industrial strength velcro and have never lost one again in the 13,000+ miles...

    Additional Cargo Capacity

Regarding tents I can recommend the Eureka Backcountry 1 or 2, the 1 obviously being for one person and not having much extra space beyond the person and sleeping bag inside. The 2 is large enough for two but if used for a single person it would have more extra space and possibly be more...

Its official: BajaRon's swaybar is a MUST have for all RT owners!

Has anyone had an opportunity to compare Ron's anti-sway bar with the Evoluzione anti-sway bar that was sold for a time shortly after the RT was introduced, and as far as I know is no longer produced? I have the Evoluzione bar and Works Performance shocks on my 2010 RT and have the impression...

Is a Spyder RT Tough enough?

What do you mean by "riding the continental divide?" If you are referring to the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route," which was described by Clement Salvadori of Rider magazine as the greatest ride he'd ever taken in North America, neither a Gold Wing or Spyder is appropriate. As the name...

    My top four tour routes

Being an old fart who has roamed the roads of the American west for over 40 years, I have been fortunate to have ridden all four. The Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jaspar is also #1 on my list, the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. When I rode around the world I saw nothing to...

    Another Elka Believer

I agree that Works Performance shocks are excellent. I have a bit over 12K on mine and they are a huge improvement over stock, and I also haven't had to touch them. My experience with Works customer service wasn't good but that's apparently an isolated occurrence and not typical. I've heard...

    SPYDER VS. GOLDWING GL1800

Yes, I believe our country is the best and people like you have helped make it that way. I'm currently reading a biography of George Washington and appreciate anew the tremendous sacrifices made by the men and women who have served in our military services, right from the founding of our...
