• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Sonic Tension Question.

That doesn't make any sense, the frequency will depend on the length of the vibrating member. For a given tension, half the length will be twice the frequency. My belt is approximately 110hz on the ground. I reckon that's possibly on the tight side.

Blimey, despite all the macho comments on SL, you folks must ride gently. Fronts and rears gone by 16k here.

    2015 RS-S - handlebar bolts

The standard series of metric threads in considered the course series and this is what is generally used. Finer pitches are used for special circumstances. M6 pitch is 1mm. M8 is pitch 1.25mm. M10 is pitch 1.5mm and M12 is pitch 1.75mm.

    Laser wheel alignment

Normally, a slightly high pressure will result in better mileage because, to some extent, it prevents the tread blocks squirming. The exception to this is where the wheel is a little narrow for the tyre width so the tyre tread becomes slightly too convex so wears the centre a little too much...

    Laser wheel alignment

Good idea. Running a tyre too soft is always a bad idea, more wall flexing, more tread squirming, less tread base control, more heat build up, more tread side wear, poorer aquaplaning resistance. To name just a few bad reasons... :yikes:. ;) If putting it back to 28psi makes a marked...

    Hydroplaning...

Aquaplaning can be an issue, particularly on the rear of a Spyder because the tyre is very wide for such a light load but tread design has a marked influence on the road speed at which it will happen. Narrower section tyres are at an advantage, as are open tyre treads. It's important not to...

To Sway Bar or Not to Sway Bar?

Whether it's worth it to you will be down to you after you've paid your money. My experience is that if folks pay money for something they mostly convince themselves that it is an improvement. However, I'm not sure most folks properly understand what a sway bar actually does - here in the UK we...

Anyone else experienced Handlebar looseness like this?

Perhaps you've got some wear too... Look at the video closely, the bars are slack then come to a stop abruptly and there is no wheel movement at all. That is play in something rather than load-up of the steering components. Though it may be typical after a fair bit of usage.

Aha, if you want to solve and know the cause of an issue of any kind, never make two changes or adjustments at the same time. It's impossible to know what did what.

Anyone else experienced Handlebar looseness like this?

Well, it was a progressive wheel shake while braking that alerted me to a problem. The cause of the shake was an out of true front hub, discussed on another thread, but the tierod was replaced first and gave better control of the errant wheel. So, to answer your question, I've not ridden with...

    Help with DESS

No you can't directly see in there but you can crane your neck or use a mirror to have a peek then work by feel. It's just two M6 screws attaching the unit to the frame. If your DESS is bad, and it likely is or you wouldn't be in there, there is no loss in clipping the cable to remove it from...

Anyone else experienced Handlebar looseness like this?

The tierod ends are of variable quality, I've had tight ones and ones so slack when new that I wouldn't put them on to the bike. To check them you need an assistant: Put your hand around the joint and hold it gently but completely, have someone rock the front wheel side to side to load and...

    Need TST 61Y014S05 (Belt Tension)

Yes, but there's a solution to all this, BRP should build them without issues, the development teams need to get their acts together. There is numerous small, easily rectified issues with Spyders which are not being addressed.

    Need TST 61Y014S05 (Belt Tension)

The part of that document that states different folk feel vibrations differently sounds like an excuse for some other issue. We've had 4 RT's and only one of them has had the vibration, the other 3 gave no sense whatsoever of a vibration. Something energises the belt on some Spyders and not on...

    Help with DESS

To replace the DESS module it is not necessary to remove the front trunk. Remove the battery cover, two screws. Remove the battery clamp and the battery. Access the module on the chassis rail above the battery compartment and remove the two screws using a spanner (wrench). Disconnect the DESS...
