• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Ilco's X270 key blank...

I don't know what year model your bike is, my experience is with a 2013, bikes 2014 and newer are a different animal when it comes to a chipped key. Most hardware stores will not carry bike key blanks. You can, however, order them online. I have ordered from these folks...

    GPS Question

The count must be off then. I use Basecamp quite a bit in planning out trips and have no difficulties with it. Currently planning for a ride that will take US 50 over to the east coast, then Lincoln Highway to the west coast and finish up the rest of US 50 heading home. It is easy to lay out...

    Tooling recommendations

Your comment about the pliers intrigued me, I hate messing around with a flat tip trying to get the out. Did a bit of research and found that most folks are really proud of them. Harbor Freight has some that appear to be a decent price. http://www.harborfreight.com/push-pin-pliers-67400.html

    Not starting!

If your bike is like the 2013 RT there are jump connections under the black panel just above the upper right side of the frunk as you are looking at it.

Spyder check engine light comes on after a hot day

That reading is not the outside temperature, it is measured near the air intake. When the bike is shut down you no longer have air flow to move that hot air under the plastic and the coolant isn't moving so it will heat up quite a bit under there.

Oil research - read only if interested😀

If you want to do a lot of research there is a gob of information just on this site. Run a search something like this "what oil can I use site:spyderlovers.com" on Google, ensure that you are using the "site:spyderlovers.com". I had over 6000 hits on running that query.

    battery life

If a battery was not properly prepared before installing on a bike it will have a short life-span. If you are concerned about your battery you can make some tests with a meter, preferably a digital one, that will give you an indication of how your battery and charging system is doing. Take a...

Call for action concerning the EPA and ethanol

AMA is asking folks to sign a petition over proposed ethanol rules. The Renewable Fuel Standard proposal announced May 18 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency would increase the risk of misfueling for motorcyclists and all-terrain-vehicle owners by forcing the widespread availability of...

    An Observation, And A Question.

According to info I received from the AMA not only does the EPA want to move to E15 but they are trying to lower the amount of E0 produced drastically. They are encouraging us to contact our Congress critters to oppose that.

Cptjam gave you good reasons. You could also do a search of the forums (if you have a week or two to spare) for laser alignments and see just how many ryders on here brag on what a difference the laser alignment made to their ride. If you do that you will also see some posts with pictures of...

Tire inflation is important for overall riding stability. If you get too big a difference between the inflation of the two front tires it will severely impact your handling. Ideally they should be exactly the same, but no more than 1/2 pound of difference between them.

    Battery charging

Battery tenders are great for maintaining a charge, but once it gets below that level, a good battery charger is needed. I have a Genius, believe the model is 3500 that will also desulfate a battery. It has brought back a battery that was so badly discharged that I had to hook it to another...

    alignment specifications

That is correct. As billy has said, it is similar to snowmobile alignment. If I was in an area where snowmobiles were used I would be getting with Spydercomfort to figure out adapters to use with them because it would be so much easier than the manual way I learned. The steering angle...

Toe is the only adjustable setting. Laser alignment aligns the front wheels to the rear wheel. When the laser targets are set in place you can easily see and measure (toe in or out and how much) exactly where the front tires are pointing.
