• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    We've Moved

Dee, Sorry to hear that you and Mike have moved but hope you enjoy Kentucky. I'll bet there are a lot of beautiful and fun roads to ride there. I'm really sorry that we never got together for a ride. Seems that the wife and I always had something going on and just never could manage to get...

    Corrupt Cops

A few forays above the posted speed limit and maybe being a day or two late returning a book to the public library is about the extent of my prior criminal activity. I'm 76 years old, white, and, besides my Spyder, drive an 11 year old ford Taurus and a 12 year old Ford Excursion so I'm about...

    Corrupt Cops

Are there corrupt cops around? I'm sure there are but I'm sure that the vast majority are honest folks who do a good job trying to keep us safe from the folks who aren't so honest and trustworthy. I know that the LEO's that I'm personally aquainted with are all fine people. But, to me, that's...

2015 F3 letter to dealers: "only have seen part of the story!"

I'm not going to say what I'm really thinking and I'm not going to have a flame war with you. I didn't state opinions, you did. I stated facts. A 9 year old boy was killed when a 4-wheeler got on top of him. That's not an opinion, it's a fact. I've had friends hurt on dirt bikes and I've...

2015 F3 letter to dealers: "only have seen part of the story!"

I certainly hope not. Everyone to their own poison but there's a reason that Honda no longer makes their dirt trikes. My kids and my grandson grew up on dirt bikes but I never let any of them on a 3-wheeler or a 4-wheeler until they were old enough to pay their own way and, thankfully, they...

Is the handling on the '14's really that bad? Opinions needed.

I don't own a 2014 RT but the only thing keeping me from it is money. I test rode a 2014 about 30 miles with my wife behind me and found no problems with the handling. In my opinion it handled considerably better than my 2010 out of the box. I added 2011 shocks and a bajaron sway bar to my...

Any ccruise control recommendations for 2011 RS?

OOOPS ! ! That's a very good question. I didn't even think of it. I just walked out to the shop and looked at the Spyder and, short of building something to attach to the bars, there's nothing to rest it on. A lot of help I am. Sorry. It works real good on my BMW, though. Cotton

Any ccruise control recommendations for 2011 RS?

Throttlemeister is a great throttle lock but it requires a bit of mechanical ability to install and it's kinda pricey. Here's what I use on my 650 BMW. Anybody can install it and it's a snap to use. To set it, just reach the speed you want and push the arm forward to the bars. To release...

2015 F3 - No Camo Pics - Things are looking up!

I don't care for the feet forward riding position at all but I love the look of the nose. It reminds me of an old Indy Roadster, in my mind the prettiest cars that ever raced at Indianapolis. Cotton

How do i (really my Hubby) change the rear tire on 2014 RT

I agree that tightening the axle nut could cause the axle to move out of alignment but I haven't had that happen yet. Maybe it's because I did as you said and snugged up the axle nut, then torqued it after it was back on the ground. Both times I did it, I checked it visually rotating the wheel...

How do i (really my Hubby) change the rear tire on 2014 RT

I haven't seen Lamonster's video and he may cover this but if not, I want to mention it. When removing the rear wheel, if you remove the lower rear shock mounting bolt it will allow the swing arm to drop down far enough that the drive belt can be simply slipped off the sprocket. The wheel can...

    valve adjustment

I've adjusted valves many times on my pushrod and rocker arm BMW's but when I bought the 2010 Spyder RT I knew that I didn't have the technical ability or the resources to adjust valves on the Spyder's cup and shim system. That was one of the reasons that I bought a maintenance agreement with...

    Goggles

Having ridden dirt bikes for years and most of that with what is now called a 3/4 helmet, I would recommend a pair of dirt goggles. My personal choice is Scott goggles but there are others. They fit tightly so they keep out the wind along with the dirt and debris but they are also vented so...

First Gas Mileage In On New 2014

Something I've noticed about the V-twins is that fuel mileage seems to be better at higher elevations. We make a trip up into the mountains in northern New Mexico most every year and I often get over 40 mpg while riding in the mountains where I seldom exceed 30 mpg around here in west Texas...

    300 km/hr motorcycle chase

Exciting to watch but very dangerous for themselves and potentially others as well. I don't know where they were but, surprisingly, the shoulder seemed very clean. Around here the chances of encountering a gator are far too great to get on the shoulder at that speed. Oh, for those not used to...

What did I get myself into?

Mine's a 2010 RT and 400 - 500 mile days through fairly remote areas are routine for me and my "backseat rider". We don't hesitate to go wherever we want without a worry. Yes, it's gone into limp mode a couple of times but they have always been quick to clear and we've never been stranded...

Check Engine light and dealer says not to worry?

My 2010 RT has done this several times on really hot days. On mine it always happened after having been parked for a time on hot pavement. Never took more than a riding a couple of blocks to clear the limp mode and the code. My dealer talked to BRP about changing the software to increase the...

Traded my 2013 RTS SM 5 for a Harley today

Congrats on the Harley and hope you have many happy miles on it. I can almost spit on the highway from my front porch so I see a lot of traffic come by and I'll say that I see Harleys coming by on days when the wind is so bad that I don't see many other bikes at all. There are always more...

How many of Spyder Riders still ride motorcycles?

After years of riding 2 wheels, it seemed like new bikes just kept getting taller and wider and heavier and, at 5' 4", I had a harder and harder time holding them up, especially riding two up. So, I bought a 2010 RT, loved it, and about a year later sold my BMW R1100RT. But after a while I got...
