• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is there a way to defeat hyperflash 2018+ other than a resistor

I tried that repeatedly on my 2019 and I couldn’t get it to work. If you’re trying to save electricity remember that the bike has a 90a alternator, so you’re not likely to see a significant gain by installing LEDs.

    Signature light for cheap

Update. Once again one bank of LEDs in the array failed. These don't seem to be able to take any kind of bend at all. Oh well. The seller had sent me a new set so I had three to work with, one of which had a bad chunk so I cut all of them apart and re-spliced them together differently. Ran...

    F3 or F3-S

I paid a little over $14000 USD for my F3S. Looks like around a thousand US$ difference. The cheap Elka rear shock is $630, bringing the price difference down to about $400. 2-up conversion kit that adds a rear seat, passenger pegs and grab bars is $370. Granted I bought the F3S-SM6...

    F3 or F3-S

I don’t think you could add the suspension upgrades and cruise control for the price difference between the F3 and the F3S. It does have the ‘upgraded’ dash that I don’t like. I’d prefer the analog gauges. And even if you upgraded the engine tune to get the 10 hp back, you still don’t get sport...

    Garage door opener built in

That’s a valid option if you have one of the bikes it fits and don’t have the ability to do it yourself. But it’s $100. I did my Spyder F3 (with a better looking button https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?132958-Garage-door-opener ) and my wife’s Ryker for less than $30. Hell $50...

    Headlight/aux light upgrade, differently.

Total side note. On the F3 there's a small panel under the driver's seat that's held on by a clip and a push-pin. BRP isn't very good at building these things, and they put an undersized push pin in with a rubber washer to try to take up the space. They fall out every time I take the side...

    Headlight/aux light upgrade, differently.

Final(ish) update. You'all better appreciate this, I was swapping lights and bulbs all afternoon to get you comparison pics. Ok, so when last we left our intrepid explorer I had ordered some DDM Tuning Saber ProX 55w LEDs to replace my 40w by the same manufacturer. The whole ordering process...

Thanks. It was much easier to add the button than a glovebox.

No argument about the canbus. I originally thought you grabbed signal from the switch. On my bike the handlebar controls are canbus so that wouldn’t have worked. Grabbing the signal from the headlight itself is fine and bypasses the canbus entirely.

I’ve seen that approach used before and I like it. My buell came with a remote hard wired to the flash to pass button. Probably work on the Ryker too, haven’t checked. Does have the issue you stated though with hitting the button every time you go to high beam, but honestly how often is that...

    Hey, sometimes simpler is better.

Brighter taillights, or Why is this so difficult?

I honestly don’t think BRP has any idea what they’re doing when it comes to manufacturing these things. Factory halogen headlights, led front lights, incandescent tail bulbs, three different size tools to take one part off, etc. They’re a hot mess.

    Signature light for cheap

Lots of times to get LEDs brighter the manufacturer will overdrive them which shortens their life considerably. At a measured 205mA these are not being overdriven, it just uses better chips. But longevity is a concern, nice thing is now I have a spare.

    Signature light for cheap

Yup but these are significantly brighter than any regular strip light and it was intended to replicate the look of the signature light for cheap. Trust me, if I could have found a cheaper light anywhere near this brightness level I’d have bought it. You should know by now that I’m cheap. I have...

    Garage door opener built in

My cars all have Home link built in, the door opener came with two remotes and I bought another pair of openers for cheap just for this. Pretty well covers my needs. Different strokes. Oh yeah, another data point. My garage door opener has a built-in battery backup so even if the power is out...

    Signature light for cheap

There were some cursewords said, but hey this kind of stuff happens. At least I had a spare on hand, I'll just have to wait to see what the seller says before I can carry on with the project for that one. The annoying thing is that it worked fine on the bench but failed once installed. Poking...

    Signature light for cheap

Bought a pair of Cree high output LED strips, rated for 565lumens and 6.5 watts per foot. https://gorecon.com/product/12-flexible-ip68-waterproof-ultra-high-power-flexible-light-strips-cree-led-white/ Unfortunately the math doesn't work out, because they also spec that they draw 285ma which...
