• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    BBs Rule!!!

I took off the multifunction switch housing from the handlebar and the simplest solution would be to wrap a piece of tape over the hole. When the housing is put back on the handlebar the registration pin would push into the tape thus still doing its job of stopping the housing from spinning on...

    BBs Rule!!!

You need to be carefull when doing this because there is a small hole in the handlebar that allows BB's to get inside the multifunction switch housing on the left handlebar. This caused me much grief when my turn signals stopped functioning correctly because the BB's started to interfere with...

Turn Signal Auto Cancel not functioning

OK I figured out what my problem was.....user error. It appears that when I decided to fill my handle bars with BB's to reduce handlebar vibration as suggested here on spyderlovers that there is a small hole in the handlebar (I assumed it was a solid pipe with no openings) that allowed some BB's...

Turn Signal Auto Cancel not functioning

All of a sudden my turn signal auto cancel function is no longer working. I can turn the signals off after a turn by depressing the turn signal switch but it is so much nicer when it shuts itself off. Any suggestion on how or where to start looking to diagnose the problem ?

    Removing the guage cluster

Thanks for all the replies. I figure this will be the easier way to get wiring up to the switch rather then trying to remove any part of the center pod.

    bolt threads

Glad you like them. I think you will find that if you are one for removing the body panels on a regular basis, you know to add NMN mods or anything like that you will really come to appreciate these fasteners.

    Removing the guage cluster

I am installing aftermarket fog lights (same as atadude's - http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showpost.php?p=37703&postcount=2) and was trying to find an easy way to run the wires up to the switch mounted in the dash.

    My Unique Mods

Nice mods. It is amazing what people come up with when they have the desire to ride the spyder ! With the marine filler cap how do you deal with the actual stock cap or was this removed with the mod ?

    SE5 not shifting

That is what I thought. I asked because to place the 27" wire end terminal connector (with the complete circle connector end) you have to totally remove the nut that backs the grounding bolt. Dealing with access to the nut is just a bit challenging. Thinking of making the task easier, I saw the...

    Cougar Skull bottom

It appears that the cougar skull (the pod containing the lights, gauge cluster, windshield mounts, mirror mounts etc.) is made of a top piece and bottom piece. Has anybody removed just the bottom piece for better access to the inside of the pod from below instead of through the gauge cluster...

    Removing the guage cluster

Does disconnecting the gauge cluster electrical connector (to remove the gauge cluster for better access to the inside of the cougar skull) cause any problems for the computer ? Does the battery need to be disconnected before the gauge cluster is removed ? Thanks for the help.

    SE5 not shifting

Question regarding the grounding lug. On the SE5 where the ignition coil is found, it (the ignition coil) is attached to a bracket with that bracket mounted to a cylindrical frame member with a bolt (not the same bolt that the 27" wire and the 4" wire is attached to). Using a multimeter I...

    Electrical Question

Thanks to all who replied. For my acc. lighting which will draw about 9.2 amps as per Scotty I do have a 15amp rated switch so I think that is the way I am going to go.

    Electrical Question

OK I have a switched accessory fuse box (powerbus). The question then is can I run, say auxilary lighting, directly through a switch connected to this fuse box or would it be better to use the switch off of this fuse box to control a relay to control power to the aux lighting directly from the...

    Electrical Question

Many have stated that when hooking up auxiliary electrical equipment (i.e. lights, cooling fans) that they should be powered through a switched relay. My question is this.....if I have an electrical accessory that draws, say 6 amps, do I really need to power it through a switch controlled relay...

    Dzus fasteners???

I too have replaced as many of the screws with DZUS fasteners. They make doing any work on the bike so much easier. I can have almost all of the body panel;s off in less then a minute. True you could use one of those powered screwdriver thingys but when you are on the side of the road and need...

    Givi Owner/Buyers just you wait!

Magic Man now I know why you didn't really give me an answer when I asked about adding additional LED lights to the Givi side cases. You are amazing ! I said it in another thread but No Magic Neon is got to be one of the best companies going. The customer has a need and you satisfy...

    B.R.P. Wimpy radiator fan

Like many others I do not believe that BRP got it right when designing the fan to come on at the right time/temp. Too many have been left in limp mode because of an overheat condition. Adding an additional fan or, which I am also considering, adding an additional manual control switch for the...

    Spare Fuses

Yes I carry extra fuses for those in the front and those in the underseat fuse panel. They are available at pretty much any auto supply store. In Canada I got mine at Canadian Tire. In the US you should be able to get them at any comparable type store.

    B.R.P. Wimpy radiator fan

For those interested the Spyder Fan is a SPAL 9" slim fan moving 590 cfm at 6.6amps. I am in the process of trying to determine the best addon fan that I can mount behind the stock fan and control manually and needed to remove the stock fan for measurements. You can see the specs at the link...
