• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Recommended synthetic oil brand/weight for hot states?

On this note, what if any oil additives are safe in these Rotax engines? I like to run a little STP oil treatment in my engines, and occasionally put some SeaFoam in the crankcase oil (most often when I'm ~100 miles or so from an oil change, just to help clean out any crud that's built up in the...

    Spyder-blind Stop Lights!

Actually Cleveland TX is my area, I drive thru town on my Spyder all the time and haven't been trapped by any of the lights there. I got trapped in Kingwood the other week though, going to a dental appointment. I ended up 3 minutes late because of that darned left-turn light. Let me know...

That would be funny for Halloween evening... hehehe! - Michael

    Spyder-blind Stop Lights!

I appreciate all the responses to this issue! Evidently, it happens more often than I would have thought... guess I was lucky up till now. LOL! @IvanLee, I didn't find that particular one when I searched Ebay but did find several similar devices. May invest in 1! Thanks! @Everyone, I...

    Spyder-blind Stop Lights!

Ok after over a year and more than 6K miles on my Spyder I finally got trapped by a stop light in Kingwood Tx that would not recognize the presence of my Spyder... Arghhh! I needed a Left Green Arrow to turn left, but it was stuck at Red even though it was letting traffic go straight (with a...

    F3 vs. RS

I just found the pic of the F3's "frunk" in the F3 forum, and wow! It's downright puny! LOL! It was a trade-off no doubt, half a "frunk" for 2 large side-mounted radiators up front... but yeah, it's still a puny "frunk" no matter how I look at it. Might as well just call it a "glove box". I...

    Trunk Space

Thanks, I kept reading thru the threads in here and finally found a pic of one showing the side-mounted radiators. Definitely a different design, mounting them side-ways. I couldn't see any electric fans, I presume there must be at least 1 though right? Otherwise it'd overheat sitting at a stop...

    Trunk Space

Hehehehe! What a puny frunk! :roflblack: Such a big nose on the F3 to have such a tiny frunk... what's in all that nose space then? - Michael :spyder2:

    Need help..sputtering

Don't know what the sputtering is all about, but I've tried filling up with 93, 89, and 87 octane fuels and the only appreciable difference was that my 2012 RS would backfire when downshifting with 87, but not with 89 or 93. Fuel mpg was about the same (as close as I could determine) across all...

    State inspection sticker location?

Well there wasn't any sign of an LA inspection sticker with the documents the seller included for me so I have no idea how they had it inspected or what became of that document/sticker. I ended up placing my Texas Inspection sticker on the swing arm right behind the serial number information tag...

Any ccruise control recommendations for 2011 RS?

More than just a bit! Wow! :yikes: Nice features though. - Michael

    Cost.

They're only "toys" to some folks... others of us use them as real vehicles, driving them to and from work and to the post office and the grocery store etc. It's surprising just how many groceries I can fit in the frunk. So your "toy" is my ~35mpg vehicle. :lecturef_smilie: Yes, 32 to 36 is...

Any ccruise control recommendations for 2011 RS?

I too would love to have some form of authentic cruise control on my 2012 RS... that's the single thing it's most missing from the factory; I don't like the idea of throttle-locks at all there's danger in those devices IMHO. My right hand just gets exhausted between stops sometimes to the...

Getting the run around on when the next service is...

How can one obtain that updated manual if BRP didn't send it to you? (I'm a 2nd owner of this 2012, and haven't found any way thus far to let BRP know that I'm the current owner now of this Spyder) Thanks! - Michael

    2015 RS?

I like the original 2008-12 rims with fewer spokes better. With fewer spokes it just looks neater at slow speed (I've seen my reflection in store front windows riding thru the parking lots... lol!). The only way Can-Am could pry my butt off my 2012 RS would be to produce a larger 3-cylinder RS...

    HOT seat?

In the summertime, if temps are up in the 90's (or greater!) and the sun is beating down you're going to get hot on any open-air vehicle there's no getting around that no matter how many wheels the thing has. Biggest complaints about Spyders and excessive heat was regarding the 2012-13 Spyder...

    wake up

No, 7+ billion human beings CAN have a hell of an impact on the climate. The greater our numbers, the faster this ship called Planet Earth is going to sink. We each have a huge "carbon footprint" and it adds up quickly when you multiply that footprint by 7 or so billion of us. :banghead: CF...

Trading my 2010RT for a RSS

Posture is very important on the RS line of Spyders... if I slouch, I notice within a mile or two that I start getting lower back discomfort. Cruise control would be nice (mine's a 2012, so I need to add an aftermarket system here at some point). Good luck and best wishes! - Michael

    Finally Pulled the trigger

Well get ready, cause you won't be able to take it anywhere without people walking up and asking questions about it.... lol! :roflblack: I do think Can-Am aught to pay us Spyder owners at least a small monthly stipend, for advertising and promoting their product every time we take the things...

Breakfast meetup Sunday July 6 Conroe Texas

Did that group include about as many 2-wheelers as Spyders? If so, then that was probably them. I think I passed them about at Beacon Bay, near the prison and airport. Don't know the road number. Would love to go riding around the perimeter of the lake sometime with other Spyder's, given...
