• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Replace old parts or buy new?

I'm gonna bet you'll do just fine. The nice thing about these models is that you can afford to bling them out to make them your own, the reflectors can be replaced with LED lighted reflectors and all sorts of other lights added and saddle-bags if you need more space (and the frunk is really the...

STAGE 1 for my 2008 Spyder SE5, costs, more than 25HP?

Can someone provide me a link to this, flash thingy? I don't know a thing about it, even though I've been a member of this site for years already and had my 2012 RS since 2013! This is the 1st time I've seen this topic come up in fact. Course I've been a little busy with my house being flooded...

Replace old parts or buy new?

I almost bought a 2010 RS that same red/black color scheme back in 2013, but seller reneged when he thought he had a better deal with another buyer (who never showed up, I later learned).... I bought a 2012 solid black RS with 800 miles on it from original owner in Baton Rouge instead, and love...

Two eBay fails - Hand Brake and Kruzer Kaddy

With Ebay / CraigsList / etc. you win some you lose some... no point in blaming the Spyder RS(S) for that! The RS line is still far better looking than CanAm's latest offerings which are just YUK! I am so NOT into the F3's or the Ryder's! :-( Also I'd like to add that a paid for Spyder is...

    2014 Spyder RS: Opinions needed

Frank, as a 2012 RS owner since 2013 and 17,500 miles ridden on it I can tell you there isn't anything wrong with the V-twin 990 series engine it's strong and dependable and the right-size engine for this series of Spyder's. The bigger question in my mind is, is it an SM5 (manual clutch-shift)...

    Need rear tire balanced!

A final update... I gave up and poured 3 oz of beads into it and put the wheel assembly back together and back on my Spyder. Haven't road tested it just yet but soon. Places I was told could balance a Spyder rear wheel but in fact could or would not (when I took it to them): Powersports of...

    Need rear tire balanced!

I am aware of dynamic balancers (such as centramatics which I have on my 1-ton dually truck but didn't know they made them to Spyder wheel sizes may look into them later) and tire beads that go inside the tire. Yes it's a Kendra tire same as my front tires are (I'm funny that way I don't like...

    Need rear tire balanced!

Guys I replaced my back tire this week but cannot find anybody (including area dealerships!) who can re-balance it! Either they can't fit it on the shaft of their balance machine, their machine is broken and they don't know when it will be fixed, or they just don't have a machine.. or in the...

Who's Going to the Lone Star Rally ?

There are really good deals to be found on gently used Spyder's (some with factory warranty remaining and/or extended warranty). And a LOT more selection when you look at used ones too! It's surprising how many people buy motorcycles then never ride them. Mine was 11 months old when I bought it...

    Opinions of comfort seat

I rode my 2012 Spyder RS with the OEM seat for some 3K miles before I upgraded to the BRP Comfort seat. Honestly, my butt couldn't really tell the difference. After another 5K miles my butt finally adapted to riding as opposed to sitting in a car or truck seat, but I can't really say the...

    2012 RS check engine/transmission light.

Sounds like they are replacing ALL the solenoid valves (the complete valve assembly unit) on the side of the engine/tranny.... I find it difficult to believe all of them are bad, though (it shifts up so that one works, it won't downshift so that one no work'em, by my shade-tree mechanic logic...

most all fault lights lit, limp mode!

There is a YouTube video of a guy doing donuts on a pearl white RT in a snow covered parking lot (at a CanAm dealership I think it was), he had a helmet cam on recording it 1st person perspective. Was very cool looking! Nanny no likey snow though. :lecturef_smilie: - Michael

    Opinions of comfort seat

Hey... it takes about an hour to swap out. Hardest part I found was getting the latch bolt positioned just right so that it would not jam when unlocking the new seat, it took a few tries to get it to work right after the seat swap. It's not rocket-science though. The bolts which hold the seat...

    2009 vs 2014

I had not heard that the RS(S) line was being discontinued... that bites! These were some of the best most enjoyable Spyder's ever produced for Pete's Sake! Try sticking 13 gallons (or 30 lbs) of anything in the front trunk of an F3!!! I dare ya! The 2013 year model RS(S) had a newly designed...

    Paddle shifter need help!

Thanks Mike, don't know with 100% certainty yet if this solved my Check Transmission problem or not but my ride last night tends to indicate it did. I had a can of WD-40 on hand, but no can of electrical cleaner.... so I used what I had. I tend to use WD-40 on many different things from...

    Paddle shifter need help!

Just fyi that others have taken the shift housing apart and exposed the 2 switches inside of it and they are very well sealed switches. It is unlikely that anything sprayed into the shift paddle housing (that is what you're talking about right?) would be able to penetrate into the switches...

    Check transmission

I'm starting to see this same error code on my 2012 RS SE5 now... after over 17,500 trouble free miles. :banghead: Read all postings on this P0826 code posted on SpyderLovers, looked at a post with pics of a paddle shifter disassembled down to the switches inside (which appear to be sealed...

    i want a slip on

I just hit 17,000 miles on my 2012 RS and still prefer to up-shift between 3.5 and 4K rpms for normal acceleration to highway cruise speed. If in a hurry to get to cruise speed for some reason I'll go higher on the rpm's before up-shifting (such as an on-ramp into heavy high speed traffic from a...

Drive belt vibration, my impression !

After a little over a year on my 2012 RS I too could feel quite a bit of belt vibration... with the machine stopped after a ride I checked my belt and I could just about pull it off the sprocket! That was WAY too loose! :gaah: I don't know if the belt started out that loose or if they just...
