• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

When the Web and email first started (you know, when Al Gore invented the net) I was a Harley rider so it was logical I be a hogman. First and middle name D & S, so dshogman was born. It's on email, business cards, and 15 years old so can't easily change it. ;)

    Installed my Madstad windshield

Well, all four of mine are now stainless Philips head - being a retired, anal, accountant, I couldn't stand that 2 looked one way and the 2 another. Oh, and yes, the crosses on the screws are lined up properly.

RS with new Madstad windshield - keep side deflectors or not?

For those with Madstad's, did you leave the Ultra Touring wind deflectors on or not (if you had them)?? They've been on since I got it 2 months ago so don't know what effect there would be without them. Thanks.

    Installed my Madstad windshield

I wont repeat what others have said about the install and subsequent adjustments. Very easy install, infinite adjustments that take some playing around and riding to test. Not a Madstad issue but rather a Can-Am issue - when installing the base plate for the windshield (replacing the dealer...

    Taking Spyder along

For those with motorhomes and an interest in the Tandem Tow trailer, visit: racecityrvproducts.com. In order to get the 6x8 deck which you need for the Spyder, you have to get the HDXL model. If interested, let me know and I can send you a referral card - which gets a small discount for thee...

    Taking Spyder along

As a fulltime RVer, all my toys go with me all the time. Yesterday was the first travel day with the new trailer and Spyder, a little different from carrying a BMW on a lift on the back of the motorhome and pulling the car behind. All went well - had Spyder tied down in every possible direction...

    Just a plug for Seafoam

What's the difference between Seafoam and Marvel Mystery Oil? When I was into classic cars years ago, I always used the Marvel stuff.

My Spyder is a car now

A friend recently on seeing my Spyder for the first time said "cool tricycle." Yeah, I guess so.....:ohyea:

    "Older" Spyder - service bulletins?

My Spyder RS is a 2009, came out of the crate and assembled April 2011. Is there anyway to find out if there have been any service bulletins on the model and year? Is there a place to look for service bulletins? I would like to have that info for the 600 mile service appointment next week. Thanks.

    Hauling my Spyder

Don't think so Doug. The one motorhome with a garage I've seen is a mid-engine. This means in spite of the "garage" storage, you loose all sorts of basement storage and as a fulltimer, I need all the space below the floor that I can get. Doubt if the garage would make up for the loss of basement.

    Hauling my Spyder

Yes, yes, yes. I took the pics before I worked on the various ways of tieing down the Spyder. The trailer has 12 different places to attach tiedowns. Front wheels of the FIT have their own tiedown straps.

    Hauling my Spyder

Behind my motorhome, that is. Complete transformation from 9 years of carrying a BMW R1200 on a lift on the back of the motorhome and towing a Subaru behind that to this: Spyder on a TandemTow trailer and Honda FIT on the rear car dolly part of the trailer. Did the first loading today. Even...

    VIN number last four digits?

Noobie question: are the last 4 digits of the VIN the production number of your Spyder? I notice folks using numbers to describe their Spyders. Just wondering. Mine is 1739.

    Time starts all over again...

If I don't ride for a few days, when I start up and check the time, the clock is starting from 00:00. Any ideas from you folks out there. Dealer said they would check it next week when they do the 600 mile. Thanks.

What does a Spyder RS weigh?

Actually folks, I will be carrying it (part of the time). As a full time RVer, I take everything with me when I travel. I'll have a new TandemTow trailer in a few weeks - the Spyder goes across the front and the car's front wheels are on a dolly at the rear. The weight question comes about so I...

What does a Spyder RS weigh?

I have a 2009. Yesterday I weighed at a state scale. It read 840#. The brochure for the 2011 shows dry weight of 699#. Fuel was almost full so add 36#. I have saddlebags, comfort seat, touring windshield and Helibar installed. Didn't think the saddlebags were that heavy. How does this add up to...

    Other Helibar users out there?

Yes, where the ignition used to be there is now a round rubber plug. That's the location I'm referring to.

    Other Helibar users out there?

Just had mine installed yesterday and really like the seating position now - no more need to have my arms lengthened. Did not get the center power outlet installed as I didn't need it. So if you don't have that installed what have you put in that opening where the rubber plug is? Would like to...
