• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone own both a Spyder and a Polaris Slingshot?

SS vs Spyder I bought my first Spyder, #610, off of a poster in a jet ski shop. Got it and never looked back. I put a down payment on not one but two Slingshots. When they were ready for delivery I looked at the machines and walked away. It has all of the inconveniences of a motorbike and...

    Blowing F7 intermittently

I have Spyder 104 after having ridden #610 for a little over 40K. The bike is old but I still like it. But with age comes out of the norm problems. I had to get rid of #610 because it had the dreaded EPS problem that I was convinced was going to kill me. Three months after I sold it BRP came...

How to gear up to ride comfortably and safely in really hot weather?

Riding in the heat Thanks for starting this. I recently moved to Southern Utah from California and have found the summer heat a bit much to deal with. The only thing I can add is that 93 degrees is the magic number. Up to that air temperature, more air over your body will cool you. Above that...

    Upgrade time

Help me understand what the differences are. I have RS/GS #104 and the only bike that would get me off of it would be an F3. What does the T stand for?

Someone needs to put the crack pipe down and move away from the CAD machine.

    water pump dribble question

That is a good point. There are a lot of causes for anti freeze leaks that are easy to fix. I would be very sure it is anti freeze AND oil before going into a water pump repair.

    Buy without driving?

I bought my original one when I saw a picture of it while getting my jet ski serviced. No regrets. Of course now there are different models to consider and they are quite different in how they handle. I have tried to fall in love with the RT but just could not come to grips with the handling...

    water pump dribble question

If you do a little research you will probably find that even it is 'fixed' it won't last for long. Someone mentioned that the Aprilla riders don't worry about it. I had mine in for a rear tire change and the mechanic pointed out the leak to me on his shop floor. I was going to have mine...

    Spyder Fires

This fire thing reminds me so much of the DPS issues that the original 2008's had. Those that experienced the problem (me) were actually very few. The rest of the lot explained it away as "holding the handlebars too tight" or some such nonsense. With the fires it's "you topped off the tank!"...

    Turned key on, nothing happened

I have had this problem intermittently with mine. I always get it started on the second try. I have replaced relays to no avail. I believe that it is because I don't have the clutch all the way in on the first try. This has been a baffling problem for me but then it always starts on the...

What's the your favorite aftermarket seat for an 2008 GS

Ultimate with back rest is my favorite. But I had no problem with the stock and BRP comfort seat either. I think the back rest with the Ultimate makes all of the difference for me.

    ride on

Lot's of bikers swear by this stuff. My experience was that it hardened up inside the tire and caused a vibration that took a while to finally locate. I now carry a $4.00 tire plug kit and hope for the best.

Madstadt brackets with a BRP touring windshield. After spending some $2,000 addressing the issue, this seems to be as good as it gets with a fixed position windshield.

Want To Eliminate Oil In My Air Filter Box

I have tried all the obvious methods and the one I have the most success with is to run the oil a half quart low. That and a small piece of lawnmower air filter material in the tube that runs from the crankcase to the air box. Doing these two things seem to solve it for me.

    Spyder Taxi

Wow! 'Bomdi bom' or '33' beer. Formaldehyde in a bottle. I had not heard a reference to that in years. But yes, that is the liquid fortification I was talking about.

    Spyder Taxi

They were doing that in Vietnam a long time ago. See avatar circa 1970. I found that it was best to have some liquid fortification before becoming the bumper of a vehicle in crowded city traffic.

    Spyder RSS advice needed....

Brake fluid low will give an error when it needs about a teaspoon of fluid. Brake pads can wear down to a mm before needing changing. That is really thin but there you have it. Change the oil every 5000 miles, ride it regularly and don't modify the electrics in any way. At least until you...

    The Ultimate mistake????

I am thinking you are blaming the seat for a physical problem that you may be having. You are allowed to do that since you paid for the seat. I had the opposite problem. I could only drive my luxury SUV for 20 minutes before I had to get out of it. I could ride my Spyder for hours with the...
