• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why is the engine braking so Weak?! Should I not use Eco mode?

You'll never have the engine braking you had on the Beemer. Those 2 big cans move a lot of air every stroke, and the flat engine is a natural for fighting itself. Pistons are much smaller in the Spyder, and you just don't have the volume of air present in each cylinder, even though the engine is...

Contemplating buying a Spyder - any reliability, power, and buyer's remorse issues?

I was not, (and still am not at 64) in the position of Spyder or no ride. I came from 50 years of 2 wheels, including a Suzuki Katana 1100, BMW R1100RT, and a Honda ST1300. I would never go back at this point. The two biggest factors are lane presence (the Spyder is just a hair under the width...

Any pros or cons to running cat bypass with original muffler?

Baldwin Iron Works pipe here. $79.00 for the pipe on that site. I used a Big City Thunder baffle, QBL-1845. $89.00 from that site. No restriction there, but a clever way of bouncing the sound waves around to keep it quiet. Factory muffler. Top spring removal was a PITA until I tried a shoe...

Contemplating buying a Spyder - any reliability, power, and buyer's remorse issues?

Adding 2 cents, worth a whole penny... You will not like the Spyder on a test drive. More than once on my test ride, muscle memory kicked in and I was zigging when a zag was appropriate. That said, I was gifted one by my spouse back in '13, and I learned to ride it. I'm now on my 3rd one, (a...

Any tips on re-installing the Brake Reservoir Retaining Spring Clip? 2022 RTL

I removed my clip first oil change. A package of ty-raps was a few dollars at the local Farm and Home. I route the ty-rap behind the mounting bracket, around the reservoir and pull it snug. Cut the ty-rap next oil change, and repeat.

Anyone ever used Ultra1Plus oil? What do you think?

Here is the blurb on JASO MA. JASO MA: This is the standard specification for oils that are used within one oil system (where the engine, gearbox and clutch use the same oil). These oils don’t contain any friction modifiers. JASO MA1: This is a lower standard specification for...

Anyone ever used Ultra1Plus oil? What do you think?

Available at Amazon, 7.48 a quart. Recent player in the market, joined the PQIA in 2021. It may meet the specs, but they did NOT apply and be certified for JASO MA because it's not on the list. (Rotella isn't either). For 6.67 a quart, I'd move over to the 5 quart Kawasaki 10w40 package that is...

    The bags of life

That bag of luck has a few things in it already. You've seen it. Some call it deja vu. An odd feeling that you have been there before. It's built in to guide you as you fill that bag of experiences. You'll collect a 3rd bag along the way. It's the bag of funks. It comes full, and you will give...

If you want a cat delete, Monster tune, etc better buy it now

This isn't going to stop anything. It just drives it underground. The EPA has recently cracked down hard on diesel truck mods, fining several of the major players. Business moved out of the USA, and now it's more word of mouth, but I can promise you that if i wanted to delete the emissions on my...

Knock on Wood: Is the 2014 Finally The One????

I had a 2012 998cc. Great machine. Traded for a 2019 with the 1330. Greater machine. just traded again for a leftover 2022. With rebate and dickering, I got only 3k less on trade in from what I paid for the 2019, so it held its value well. The 2022 is as much of a difference from the 19 as the...

Picked up my New Sea To Sky!

Very nice. My local dealer has a 22 STS left over. Army green color. They can't give it away... the green just isn't tripping any local triggers. You'll be getting an itch soon for some changes, and the weight loss program your bank account is on will fill you with shock and awe.

Valvoline™ 4-Stroke Motorcycle Full Synthetic 10W-40 Motor Oil

Oh it's low all right. Zero. It is the most unexciting oil period. No moly. Some Boron. Appropriate Zinc and Phosphorus. But nothing to stop overall wear except a group III base stock. This constant thing about moly though.... it just isn't so. Many MC oils have moly. Redline, highly regarded...

We talked about a new rear tire for me. I bought one. But is this typical of Kendas?

Normal wear from a Kenda rear. I got about 8k out of each Kenda rear I have had and the center was to the wear bars. Fronts do a bit better. AND in stark contrast to the poor quality of Kenda MC tires, the car version, Kenda KR23A, have done well for me on the front so far. ArTraveler is the...

What Oil Frequency and Oil Type do you use?

Euro style oils typically have better HTHS numbers (high temp/high shear) and high calcium levels for extended drain intervals. Both of what you want in a common sump/gearbox. Leave it in, it's fine. Lots of discussion on car vs. MC oils. When you analyze them, many are splitting hairs. The...

    Are you a Sea-Foam User?

SeaFoam MSDS is a mystery. Less than 95% blend of hydrocarbons with no CAS number. Less than 25% isopropanol. Rumor always was it was pale oil with alcohol mixed in. Hard pass for me, nothing in there of any benefit for the 7.00 can.

    Oil analysis @ 3 years & 9500 miles.

Iron at 214 ppm Viscosity at 13.6 Moly and Boron present. I'm surprised no one has said you can't use an oil with Moly or boron, both friction reducers. I'm not that guy, moly is in nearly every oil formulation, auto or motorcycle/wet clutch. You be you. I see a 30 weight oil that has quite a...

    998cc 2008 GS SM5 - Engine, oil pump, & clutch Troubles - Need Advice?

I'm not understanding how the oil cooler got clogged. It has to be located after the filter system, so that would tell me no filter or a perforated oil filter for a period of time. The myth of oil additives destroying clutch plates keeps getting parroted and spread. What additives are you...

Exhaust Perfection?! another $20 exhaust system. No aftermarket muffler needed

That has to be ridiculously loud. I doubt you see an actual power gain either. That would irritate the heck out of me, both on and off the trike.
